Chamber of Commerce moves to new home
The chamber moved just a stone’s throw away from 119 N. High Street to 137 N. High St.
It wasn’t very far to go, but the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce has moved.
As of Jan. 1, the chamber’s new home is just a half a block away from the old one. The chamber moved just a stone’s throw away from 119 N. High Street to 137 N. High St.
Chamber President and CEO Mark Yoder said with a smile that whether you are moving across the street or around the world, it’s still a hassle.
Most of the cardboard boxes have been emptied at the 3,600-square-foot site, which was a 1854-feed store.
The new space, at the borough’s northern gateway, is more visible. The chamber is now closer to the Chester County Historical Society and Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center.
“This is an opportunity to really connect with the community at large and it’s a beautiful space,” Yoder said. “It’s now easier to find the chamber.”
The new chamber headquarters features nearly floor to ceiling windows on the west side of the building. Sunlight flooded the space, Thursday.
Malcolm Johnstone, executive director with the West Chester Business Improvement District shares space with the chamber. Fig Magazine, VISTA.Today and Sandler Training are also housed at the chamber headquarters.
Johnstone happily pointed to the now-empty lobby that will soon be packed with brochures and full of information, as part of a welcome center.
Residents, visitors and business people will be able to look directly into the warm offices, said Jeffrey Zajac, chamber marketing and communications manager.
And Johnstone likes the bigger conference room, and tall ceilings that he said are both elegant and provide a sense of space.
