Robert O. Blount of Thorndale

Robert O. Blount, 86, of Thorndale died Friday, January 12, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lockport, New York, he was the son of the late Willard and Agnes Munzel Blount and the husband of Lorna Baker Blount with whom he would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in May.

Bob was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Coatesville.

He retired in 1990 after a 41 year Railroad career that spanned New York Central, Penn Central, and Conrail.

Fun loving and adventurous, he lived life to the fullest. He had many interests including a love of railroading, snowmobiling, garden railroading, vacationing with his family, and being the family meteorologist. His family and friends were his life.

In addition to his wife, Lorna, Bob is survived by his two sons: David Blount and his wife Shirley of Coatesville and Douglas Blount of New Holland; one daughter Deanna Reczek and her husband Andrew of Downingtown; 5 grandchildren: Dan Blount (Rose Boyer), Greg Blount, Sarah Toth (Dan), Abigal Matuk (Sean), and Hannah Reczek; and 5 great-grandchildren: Jack and Owen Blount, Ryder and Lyla Toth, and Tobin Matuk.

Bob’s memorial service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00am at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Coatesville with visitation beginning at 10:00am. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
