Nelson clutch at free throw line as Rustin holds on to beat Sun Valley

Jake Nelson hit four free throws in the last minute to seal a big road victory for West Chester Rustin, as the Golden Knights edged Sun Valley, 62-59, in a ChesMont American clash Tuesday night.

Bryce Pew had a careerhigh 14 points and eight assists for the winners. Taj Asparagus tallied 17 points, and Nelson finished with 18.

GREAT VALLEY 58, KENNETT

35» The Patriots (11-5, 7-1) were led by Liam Ward’s 21 points, and shot 10-for23 from 3-point territory. Eleven different Great Valley players scored. Patriot head coach Paul Girone said, “It was a team effort, everyone played well tonight.”

UNIONVILLE 60, OCTORARA

57» The Indians overcame a 28-24 halftime deficit and were led by 13 points each from Bo Furey-Bastian and Wyatt Hockenberr­y, and 12 points from Shawn Raf- ferty. DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 60, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 45» The Whippets got balanced scoring from 10 different players, as only two West players were in double figures — Greg Barton (10 points) and Aiden Brook (12). Archer Rymiszewsk­i led Henderson with 17 points.

» The Cougars (10-5, 6-2) overcame a 30-22 halftime deficit for victory. Tariq Kalim scored all 10 of his points in the second half.

OXFORD 54, AVON GROVE 45 »

The victorious Hornets (5-8, 1-6) shot 11-for-12 from the free throw line and 7-for15 from 3-point territory, and led from start to finish, maintainin­g their lead down the stretch thanks to free throws. Brock Ruddy had 13 points for the Hornets, and Ryan Todd led all scorers with 17 points for Oxford. Ryan Todd and Jake Giles each had a trio of three-pointers for Oxford.

PHELPS 63, COLLEGIUM

CHARTER 34 » Phelps (13-11) got 21 points from Jon Garcia, 19 from Nedas Nacickas and 15 from Tristen Isaac. Nacickas and Garcia each tallied a trio of 3-pointers.

MALVERN PREP 78, GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 61 » The Friars got 21 points from Kieves Turner and 15 points from Rahdir Hicks in the victory. The duo was a combined 13-for-13 from the free throw line, and Malvern converted nine threepoint­ers.

WESTTOWN 93, MOORESTOWN FRIENDS 54 » Westtown had five players reach double figures in scoring Niall Warin, TJ Berger, John Camden, Jalen Warley and Cameron Reddish. Westtown converted 17 treys, led by Camden (five) and Reddish (four).

38» Miranda Porretta’s 18 points (including a trio of 3-pointers) led the way for the victorious Hornets. Madeline Williams chipped in with nine points for the winners. For Avon Grove, Jamie Perkins scored 12 points and Amanda Smida scored 20.

» Bella Smuda and Erin Phelan combined for 39 points for the Cougars, who outscored West Chester East 17-4 in the second quarter to open up a big lead. The Vikings were led by 21 points from Marissa McDonald.

KENNETT 47, GREAT VALLEY 45 » Andrea Prestianne had 20 points and Caroline Hertz added 13 as Kennett picked up a tight Ches-Mont Americna win over Great Valley. Sadie Buzan led Great Valley with 17 points.

MARIA 26 » Paige Lauder had nine points but the Hurricanes (7-1, 12-4) suffered their first loss in the AACA This season. Abby Walheim added eight points for Villa in the loss.

WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 100, COATESVILL­E 65 » Henderson’s standouts were quadruple winner Liam Pitt (50 free, 100 free, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay) and triple winners Jared Bergan (100 fly, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay) and Fernando Gomez-Fischer (200 IM, 500 free, 400 free relay). Henderson’s Tie Manuel won the 100 backstroke and Hugh McIntyre won the 100 breaststro­ke. Coatesvill­e’s top standout was double winner Ethan Moore (200 free, 200 free relay). Henderson’s Will Merrill won the diving competitio­n (201.50). Coatesvill­e dropped to 4-3 with the loss. MALVERN PREP 105, EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 81 » Malvern Prep (6-2, 4-1) used its team depth and individual wins from John Connors (200 free, 1:45.0), Marshall Beckett (Diving, 253.5), Ryan Maher (100 fly, 53.06) and Ryan Durkan (100 breast, 1:02.4) to win at Episcopal Academy. Malvern opened up a close meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200 free relay outscoring the hosts 12-2. Dan Waterland, Ryan Maher, Matt Hopkins and Matt Magness were on the winning relay (1:29.75) and Isaac Salinas, Fran Curran, Lou Franzone and John Connors (1:29.99) were on the 2nd place relay. DiCamillo, Bria, Lauren Wolstenhol­me, Kayla Bock), and 400 free relay (L. DiCamillo, Wolstenhol­me, Bock, Wolf) all came in first place in the meet. Coatesvill­e’s Lauren DiCamillo (200 IM, 100 back), Jordyn DiCamillo (100 fly, 100 breast), and Peyton Wolf (50 free, 100 free) were all quadruple winners. Maya Byrne (200 free) and Courtney Marlin (500 free) won events for Henderson. Coatesvill­e’s Sydney Schroeder won the diving competitio­n (203.30). Coatesvill­e improved to 7-0 with the win.
