How to make sure you’re seeing local news in your feed

- Digital First Media staff

Facebook recently announced changes to its algorithm, which means your News Feed will now show more content your friends engage with and less content from publishers and brands like us, The Times Herald. To make sure you still see important, local stories from us and just content your friends and family are “liking” and commenting on, take a look at the following steps.

How to keep news in your News Feed

If you’re using Facebook on your desktop computer, click the arrow facing down in the top right corner of your screen. In the menu that appears, click on “News Feed Preferences.” A box will appear with more options — click on “Prioritize who to see first.” The box will change and there will be an option near the top left that says “All” — click on that and change it to “Pages Only.” Now just choose the pages you want to see first and you’re done!

If you’re using Facebook on an iPhone, touch the three horizontal bars at the bottom right of your screen. This will open a new page with menu options — scroll down to the bottom and touch “Settings.” A menu will pop up — touch “News Feed Preferences.” On the new page that opens up touch “Prioritize who you see first.” A new page will open will pages you already “like.” If you scroll up a bit, a search bar will appear at the top so you can search for one of our local news titles including The Delaware County Daily Times, The Daily Local, The Pottstown Mercury, The North Penn Reporter or The Times Herald. Once it appears, touch the logo to prioritize our posts and enjoy.
