EAST CALN » Two people suffered injuries when the vehicle they traveled in partially landed in a building.

Downingtown police and the Downingtown Fire Department were alerted to a vehicle accident at Boot Road and Clover Mill Road in East Caln Township at about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Initial reports to the responding crews indicated that two occupants were entrapped inside an overturned vehicle. First responders arrived to find the vehicle partially in a building with both occupants still inside the vehicle.

Fire and EMS crews quickly accessed the patients by entering the structure and by cutting through the windshield of the vehicle. Both occupants in the vehicle were transported to Paoli Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to Downingtown Police Chief Howard Holland. Both were conscious and alert and provided verbal information to officers on scene, Holland said. It was not immediately known by Monday morning if they had been released from the hospital yet.

Uwchlan Ambulance Corps also assisted at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Because the building was damaged during the incident, the Chester County Structural Collapse Team was requested to stabilize the building before the vehicle was removed. The incident is under investigation by Downingtown police.
