Hundreds enjoy Chocolate Lovers fest
Winners announced
KENNETT SQUARE » Hundreds of people attended the annual Chocolate Lovers Festival in Kennett Square Sunday, despite downpours at times.
The fundraiser for the United Way of Southern Chester County, held at Kennett High School, raised thousands of dollars, and the proceeds from that will go to helping needy people and organizations locally.
More than 200 local residents and restaurant employees baked cakes, cupcakes, brownies, candy, and cookies and donated it to the event. There were 30 judges.
Restaurant professionals, amateur chefs and students ages 12 and up competed for bragging rights and ribbons. The big winners this year in the professional division were Barretta’s Italian Restaurant in Kennett Square, Country Butcher in Kennett Square and Magnolia Bakery in Kennett Square.
The United Way of Southern Chester County serves the residents of four Pennsylvania school districts: Avon Grove, Kennett, Oxford, and Unionville-Chadds Ford. More than 30 different health and human service programs and over 13,000 people received support from UWSCC last year.
