Comitta announces reelection bid

State Rep. Carolyn Comitta announced her bid for reelection for the 156th House District seat.

WEST CHESTER » Carolyn Comitta announced her bid for reelection for the Pennsylvan­ia State House seat in the 156th District in front of a room full of supporters at The Melton Center. She won this seat in 2016 by 25 votes, beating out incumbent Dan Truitt.

“I am grateful every day to have the opportunit­y to serve as your state rep and so tonight, with gratitude, dedication, hope and joy I announce the launch of my re-election campaign for state representa­tive!” Comitta exclaimed.

The 156th District includes West Chester Borough, East Goshen, Westtown, Birmingham, Thornbury and the northern part of West Goshen Township.

“As I seek a second term as your state rep, I pledge to you that I will always listen. And I pledge I will continue to do everything I can to bring people together to improve things for our precious children, our seniors, our families, our businesses, our workers, our nonprofits, and our community.”

Comitta is a member of the women’s caucus and was appointed by Gov. Tom Wolf to the PA Women’s Commission. She has since sponsored a bill with the other women of the house to end sexual harassment in government. Comitta is also a member of the joint legislativ­e conservati­on committee and fought budget efforts to roll back DEP funding and oversight. She also co-sponsored a bill with state Rep. Kate Harper for clean energy legislatio­n

that would make affordable financing available to businesses working to reduce their carbon footprint.

Prior to her election as state representa­tive, Comitta served on West Chester Borough Council for one term and was the mayor of West Chester for two terms.

“I am grateful for your ideas, your concerns, your generous support and your tireless efforts to work together to make things better,” Comitta said.
