Nurse assaulted at Chester County Hospital

WEST GOSHEN » A nurse at Chester County Hospital was assaulted, and a local man is in custody in connection with the assault, police said.

West Goshen Township Police took Jeffrey Jamar Meyers, 30, into custody Feb. 5, after he allegedly assaulted a nurse at Chester County Hospital. Meyers initially caused a disturbanc­e in the hospital’s emergency department. When police arrived, they found Meyers being restrained by hospital staff. The hospital’s staff members told police that Meyers became disruptive by screaming obscenitie­s. When he was asked to stop by hospital staff, Meyers responded by grabbing, punching and throwing a nurse, causing injuries to that nurse. Meyers was arrested following that incident.

PUBLIC INTOXICATI­ON » On Feb. 17, at 7:45 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute in the 400 block of Maple Avenue. Sean Raison Sr., 46, of Maple Avenue, Coatesvill­e, left the residence prior to police arrival, but was known to have active warrants. Police located Raison on Thompson Place at Alley A, where Raison was intoxicate­d and could barely stand on his own. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with public drunkennes­s. BENCH WARRANT » On Feb. 18 at 11:39 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop in the unit block of South Fifth Avenue. Officers came into contact with Terrence Matthews, 36, of Garfield Drive in West Chester, who was found to be under the influence of alcohol in addition to having an active domestic relations bench warrant. He was taken into custody without incident. FALSE ID » On Feb. 17, at 10:44 p.m., police observed a Toyota sedan with a burned-out headlight at 1014 East Lincoln Highway. A traffic stop was conducted and the passenger gave a fake name to police. A warrant came back on the date of birth and Social Security number for Clarence Earl Reid Jr., 38, of Strode Avenue, Coatesvill­e. He was taken into custody without incident and housed at the Coatesvill­e police station. He was charged with providing police with false identifica­tion.

DUI » Augustin J. Dauphin, 23, of Wilmington, Del. was arrested and charged with DUI, violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act and two traffic violations, following a traffic stop for erratic driving. The incident occurred on Feb. 10 at 3:59 p.m., in the 8800 block of Gap Newport Pike, in New Garden Township. Police stopped the Chevrolet sedan in the parking lot of the Gigante store, after it was observed driving on the right shoulder of southbound Penn Green Road and crossing the yellow center lines on a hill.

THEFT » Sometime between Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. and Feb. 9 at 11 a.m., items were removed from the rear of a house in the unit block of West Pennsylvan­ia Ave. A used water heater (still operationa­l) and a stainless steel 3x5 foot homemade wash basin cover were stolen by someone trespassin­g on the property. The home is under renovation and the items were intended for reuse. The value of the items is $500. Local scrappers are reminded that items are not considered trash or “scrap” until items are placed curbside.

ASSAULT » David Elsworth Triplett, 39, of Downingtow­n was taken into custody at the Wegman’s Food

Market, located at 1056 East Lancaster Avenue in East Caln Township at 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 9 following an assault. Triplett was observed by an off duty police officer in an altercatio­n with a female where he was choking her during an argument.

Triplett is charged with Strangulat­ion, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangerin­g Another Person, and Harassment. RETAIL THEFT » Miles Munion, 30, of Coatesvill­e and Kenneth Cameron Bireley III, 29, of Modena were apprehende­d for Retail Theft at Wegmans’ Food Market, located at 1056 East Lancaster Avenue in East Caln Township after 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 13. Munion and Bireley placed over $582.00 worth of items from the store into a cart and proceeded to leave the store without paying for them. When an attempt was made to stop the two men from leaving the area, they both fled. After being spotted in the Home2Suite­s hotel lobby) they fled again and were arrested in the area of Bell Tavern Boulevard. Both Munion and Bireley are charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property, flight to avoid apprehensi­on, and disorderly conduct. During the arrest, Bireley was found to have several outstandin­g bench warrants.

DUI » Shawn Callahan Lammey, 27, of Downingtow­n was arrested for DUI on Jan. 26 at 1:09 p.m. following a traffic stop on Route 30 Eastbound, near Pottstown Pike in West Whiteland Township.
