Nominations sought for civic awards
Downingtown–Thorndale Regional Chamber adds third category
DOWNINGTOWN » The Downingtown–Thorndale Regional Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for its Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year and Community Organization/Non-Profit of the Year civic awards.
The Community Organization/ Non-Profit of the Year award is new this year, according to Steven Plaugher, executive director of the Downingtown-Thorndale Regional Chamber of Commerce.
He added that the Business of the Year award was added about five years ago, and since then there have been some non-profits nominated with the Business of the Year category.
“Adding this new category will help make the nomination process run smoothly and ensure that we recognize and honor worthy community organizations in the Downingtown-Thorndale region,” Plaugher said.
The Outstanding Citizen of the Year award is presented to an individual who has shown outstanding and selfless contributions in serving the welfare and progress of the Downingtown-Thorndale area and its citizens, according to the chamber’s website.
The Outstanding Business of the Year award recognizes busi--
nesses in the Downingtown-Thorndale area for noteworthy accomplishments, long standing contribution to the community and significant community service efforts.
The Community Organization/Non-Profit of the Year award recognizes a community organization that has made a significant contribution to the overall health and livability of the Downingtown-Thorndale area and its citizens.
“It’s nice to recognize and let the community know about these people and businesses that are doing good things for the Downingtown-Thorndale region,” Plaugher added.
Nomination forms and guidelines for all three awards are available at the Chamber of Commerce website, www.dtrcc.com. The deadline for submissions is March 16.
Awards will be presented at the chamber’s annual dinner on April 24 at the Downingtown Country Club.
The Downingtown-Thorndale Regional Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1945 to provide leadership in the business community to ensure continuing economic prosperity. Today, the chamber advances the civic, economic and business interests of the Downingtown-Thorndale region by promoting commerce, education and employment.
