Workforce Development open house attracts 80
Event focuses on programs being offered by MCCC
More than 80 area residents had the opportunity Thursday to learn first-hand about some of the programs offered by Montgomery County Community College’s Workforce Development Division.
During an open house at the West Campus in Pottstown, attendees learned about the college’s customized training courses, Fast-Track to Employment programs and professional development opportunities.
Participants included representatives from area businesses, community members and students from area high schools.
During the event, one-hour information sessions about the college’s workforce development programs were held. Topics included: Advanced Computer Networks and Security, OSHA, Customer Experience, Building Inspection, Lean Manufacturing, New Supervisor Training and Personal Finance.
Each session presented information from the actual classroom module, according to David DiMattio, vice president of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, giving attendees a chance to experience what they would in the classroom.
The Workforce Development and Continuing Education offices were relocated to Pottstown in September. Thursday’s event was the first event focused around the program, since the move.
MCCC’s Workforce Development Division provides careertraining programs for individuals, businesses and organizations in Montgomery County and the surrounding areas. Both day and evening courses are available, as well as online learning opportunities.
