COATESVILLE

COATESVILLE » Despite the cold, windy weather on Friday morning, representatives from Habitat for Humanity of Chester County and its corporate partners gathered outside at 326 Community Lane in Cambria Terrace for a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the beginning of three new homes.

Habitat for Humanity of Chester County Executive Director Chip Huston thanked Wells Fargo and other partners for their support.

The Wells Fargo Housing Foundation awarded Habitat their Priority Markets Program grant for $160,000. This grant supports organizations that work “to remove barriers to sustainable housing in low and moderate income communities,” Huston said.

Habitat for Humanity of Chester County was the only Habitat in Pennsylvania to receive this grant, which will fund two of the new homes.

Huston also thanked the corporate sponsors participating in the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development’s Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credit incentive that “encourages businesses to invest in projects which improve distressed areas.”

The following business are participating in the NAP program to fully fund the third home: Bentley Systems, Bryn Mawr Trust, Customers Bank, First Resource Bank, MillerEdge, Naturescapes, PJM Inerconnectioin, WSFS Bank.

The Spurlino Family Foundation also joined the corporate sponsors in partnering to build these homes.

“Thank you for your relentless support of affordable housing,” Huston said.

Cambria Terrace is a single-family and twin-home community, which will have more than 60 homes in the neighborhood by the time it’s completed within the next few years.

Huston said the generosity of churches, bankers, donors and volunteers has been vital in building the homes.

He said a groundbreaking is always an awesome day because it’s exciting to begin to build a safe, warm place for more families.
