New event encourages shopping at local places

POTTSTOWN » The Breakfast Club of Pa. — an area business networking and referral group — is hosting its first Home and Lifestyle Fair this weekend.

“The purpose of this event is to support the idea of shopping local,” said Dr. Kyle Kopicki, a chiropractor with the Centre for Healing Arts in Limerick and member of the Breakfast Club of Pa.

The Home and Lifestyle Fair will feature an estimated 30 vendors from a variety of business categories, Kopicki said, adding that many of them are part of the business networking group.

“They will be sharing information with attendees about the products and services they offer,” he said.

During the free event, attendees can talk with representatives from a variety of Pottstown-area businesses, including banking, education, landscaping, painting, travel, financial services, construction and more. The Home and Lifestyle Fair will be held Sunday, March 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Brookside Country Club, 850 N. Adams St., Pottstown.

The difference between the Home and Lifestyle Fair and other similar events, according to Kopicki, is in the event’s structure.

“In other events like this, there might be four or five kitchen contractors, for example,” Kopicki explained. “The concept of this event is — there is just one representative from each type of business.”

Sunday’s Home and Lifestyle Fair will feature door prizes, a photo booth, face painting for kids and giveaways for the first 500 people, Kopicki said.

“We think this is a nice family event,” he added.

Cake samplings will be offered by Sweet Layers LLC of Boyertown; a free candy bar for the kids will be offered by the Peppermint Stick Candy Store of Boyertown; food tastings will be offered by Brookside Country Club and Stable 12 Brewery will be onhand with beer tastings.

The Breakfast Club of Pa. has been meeting for about four years, according to Kopicki.

“We have talked about how we can grow the organization, and when the idea of this event came up,

we moved ahead,” Kopicki said, adding that planning for the Lifestyle and Home Fair has been underway for about two months.

According to Kopicki, the Breakfast Club of Pa. was formed after previous Pottstown business networking group — BNI of Pottstown — was disbanded.

“We didn’t want to lose the connection when the chapter disbanded,” Kopicki

said, adding that the group has about 25 regular members.
