Route 30 Exton Bypass ramp to Route 202 to close at night

The ramp from the eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202 in East and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, will be closed at night next week for overhead bridge construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced. The work schedule is: • Tuesday, March 13, through Thursday, March 15, the ramp will be reduced to a single lane from 8-10 p.m., then closed completely from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning; and

• Friday, March 16, the ramp will be reduced to a single lane from 8-10 p.m., then closed completely until 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17.

Motorists normally using the ramp will be directed to use the Business U.S. 30 exit, turn right on eastbound Business U.S. 30, then right on the ramp to northbound U.S. 202.

The restrictions will allow the contractor to continue demolition of the outer half of the northbound U.S. 202 bridge over the ramp and adjacent Amtrak rail lines.

Eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass motorists should remain alert for delays and slow moving traffic when approaching the work area. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT completed repairs and redecking of the inside half of the northbound bridge in early February under the first major stage of a $26.4 million project to rehabilitate the northbound and southbound U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak and the ramp, and replace the concrete pavement on the ramps to and from U.S. 202 and U.S. 30/Exton Bypass.

Allan A Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
