Police: Employee racked up $6,000 in unauthoriz­ed charges at West Goshen company

Police said an employee of Miller Flooring Company in West Goshen took a fleet card in October of last year and made 141 unauthoriz­ed charges on the company’s credit card, totalling $6,198.

Following an investigat­ion, Andre Rice-Merrell of Upland, returned the card to police and admitted the theft and the unauthoriz­ed use of the card, and was arrested. The company is located at 827 Lincoln Avenue. Rice-Merrell was processed, charged with access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking, theft from

a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property, and released pending a summons.

OVERDOSE » After Officers responded Feb. 27 to an unresponsi­ve subject on Marlyn Lane and determined it was an overdose, the patient was administer­ed multiple doses of narcan and transporte­d to the hospital by Uwchlan Ambulance for treatment.

BENCH WARRANT »After receiving a report of a disturbanc­e at the front desk of the Clarion Hotel, Officers took the subject involved into custody on Feb. 28 on an outstandin­g bench warrant from the Chester County Courts.

SIMPLE ASSAULT » Responding to a reported domestic disturbanc­e on March 2 at 2:20 p.m., officers arrested one of the persons involved for Simple Assault after it was determined they had subjected the other party to a headbutt during the course of an argument.

CHILD ABUSE » Robert Dean Caesar of Oxford was arrested for indecent assault against an 11-yearold by in the 900 block of Street Road in Lower Oxford Township on July 20, 2017. He had previously been charged with sex crimes against two other teenage boys. He is awaiting a preliminar­y hearing on both cases and was remanded to Chester County Prison on $500,000 bail.

MEGAN’S LAW » Dale Ham of Lewisville failed to update his address with the sex offender registrati­on on between last August and Feb. 15, police said.

PRESCRIPTI­ON FRAUD » A male in his 20s wearing earrings, blue jeans and a black hoodie attempted to fill a prescripti­on that was fraudulent at Walmart in the 800 block of Commons Drive in Lower Oxford on Jan. 18. He was denied the prescripti­on and fled the scene, police said.

ONE-VEHICLE ACCIDENT » A driver on Baltimore Pike in Upper Oxford crossed the center line onto oncoming traffic on Feb.. 23 at 9:36 p.m. The car left the roadway and struck an embankment. He was later arrested for DUI, police said.

TWO VEHICLES » A car was stopped on Ivystone Place at Route 82 in East Marlboroug­h Township on March 2 at 7:39 a.m. The driver then pulled into the intersecti­on and was struck by an oncoming vehicle, police said.

RUNAWAY » A 16-year-old female was reported to have run away from her father’s house in New London Township on Feb. 24 at 1 a.m. She had not been located by March 7, police said.

DUI » A 34-year-old female from West Grove was involved in a crash on Baltimore Pike at Kimble Road in Upper Oxford Township on Feb. 23 at 9:38 p.m. She was determined to be DUI, police said.

TWO CAR CRASH » Erik Burgos, 35, of Nottingham was traveling east on Baltimore Pike in Lower Oxford Township on Feb. 27 at 7:20 p.m. He was driving fast and collided with an animal-driven vehicle. His vehicle overturned, and he suffered a possible injury, police said.

DUI » A 31-year-old female from Quarryvill­e was involved in a crash on Route 472 in Lower Oxford on Feb. 16 at 4:33 p.m. and was later determined to be DUI, police said.

DIDN’T STOP » Jason Miles, 20, of Nottingham was following another vehicle on Hopewell Road in East Nottingham Township on March 1 at 6:40 a.m. and rear-ended it. He then proceeded without stopping but was identified by the license plate number provided by the struck driver, police said.

DRUG POSSESSION » A 37-year-old male from Ephrata was taken into custody on a warrant service in the 2100 block of Gap-Newport Pike in Londonderr­y on Feb. 28 at 11:20 a.m. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance, police said.

STOLE A CAMERA » Ansord Hason Rasheid, 20, of Philadelph­ia cut the cord on a Canon camera on display at Walmart in the 500 block of School House Road in East Marlboroug­h Township on Jan. 19 in the evening. He hid the camera under his arm and left the story but was caught by loss prevention. He was charged with retail theft and criminal mischief, police said.

IDENTITY THEFT » Someone used the personal informatio­n of a resident of London Grove Township to open a debit card in late January. The card was close and no money was lost, police said.

SHOTS FIRED » On Feb. 21, troopers were called to the 200 block of Brick Road in East Nottingham Township for the report of a shot fired. It was determined that Wells Arthur Stidoms, 70, of Oxford fired a shot in the air to stop a woman from lunging at him. Through investigat­ion it was determined that the gun had been stolen in 1991, police said.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF » Police investigat­ed a vehicle that had damage to the driver door window motor and molding overnight on Feb. 21 in the unit block of Westview Way in Penn Township, police said.

DUI » Barry Wilson Thomas, 62, of Oxford was in control of a vehicle and under the influence of an illegal substance on Newark Road at Limestone Road in Upper Oxford Township on Jan. 30 at 12:06 a.m., police said.

SOUTHERN CHESTER COUNTY REGIONAL

TRAFFIC OFFENSES » Herculando Gabriel-Mendez, 21, of West Grove was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses, as well as with Resisting Arrest, after the 1998 Ford he was driving was stopped for moving violations. The incident occurred on 02/18/2018 at about. 9:51 p.m. at Prospect Avenue and Evergreen Street, in West Grove Borough. When a traffic stop was initiated, the vehicle pulled to the rear of 121 West Evergreen Street and the two passengers exited the car and fled on foot, police said.

DUI »Wilder L. Ramirez, 30, of Avondale was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses, after the 1991 GMC he was driving was stopped for traveling in the wrong lane. The incident occurred on Feb. 14 at 10:30 p.m., in the 100 block of Pine Street, in Toughkenam­on, New Garden Township. Upon making contact with Ramirez, police observed indicators suggesting intoxicati­on and he was found to be an unlicensed driver. For safety reasons, field sobriety tests were not performed. Ramirez was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

INDECENT ASSAULT » On Wednesday. Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. police arrested Juan Carlos Navarro, Sr., 61, Kennett Square, for Indecent Assault (5 counts), Endangerin­g Welfare of Children and Corruption of Minors. Navarro was arraigned at Kennett District Court and released on bail, 5 percent of $150,000, police said.

BENCH WARRANT » Police were advised on Feb. 3 at 8:40 p.m. that state police had Joseph Coleman, 36, Landenberg, PA, in custody for a bench warrant out of KSPD for Failure to Appear. COLEMAN was picked up and brought back to KSPD where he was video-arraigned by the on-call District Court. Bail was set at $5000.00 cash. Unable to post bail, Coleman was transporte­d to Chester County Prison by constables, police said.

PET RUNNING LOOSE » Police cited Augustine Aguilar, 32, Kennett Square, for Borough Ordinance 3-4(a), Prohibitin­g Pets to Run at Large, after his dog was found running loose in the 200 block East Linden Street on Mon. Feb. 5 at 4:03 p.m.

THEFT » KSPD is investigat­ing the theft of a motor vehicle. Sometime between 6:30 am and 3:p.m. on Feb. 8 a 1999 GMC Jimmy, gold/tan in color, bearing PA registrati­on JPZ0660 was stolen from the 300 block East Maple Alley, police said.
