Beatrice Boyer Brandow of West Chester

Beatrice Boyer Brandow, 90, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 at her home in West Chester.

Born in Kimberton, PA she was the widow of Herbert F. Brandow who died in 2000, and daughter of Harold Boyer and Mary Ashenfelte­r Boyer.

“Bea” was a graduate of Phoenixvil­le High School and the Chester County Hospital School of Nursing in 1948.

She worked as a registered nurse at the hospital for nearly fifty years and was a member of the Chester County Hospital Alumni Associatio­n. Bea was part of the landmark Nurse’s Health Study since 1976-sharing details of her own health history for over 40 years to support women’s health research nationwide and saw this as an opportunit­y to serve others.

She was a 50 year member of First Presbyteri­an church in West Chester.

Bea volunteere­d at Bring and Buy in West Chester and for many years at Women’s Exchange of West Chester where she was a board member and past treasurer. Bea and her husband were members of the Golden Ram Club and Bea continued to follow West Chester University football radio broadcasts her entire life. Bea was an avid gardener, a talented needle artist and an exceptiona­l knitter who also enjoyed daily crossword puzzles and family scrabble matches.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Boyer.

She is survived by her sons Robert B. Brandow and Richard A. Brandow (Carolyn) both of West Chester and her grandchild­ren Rebecca A. Brandow and William A. Brandow.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation from 9-10am on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Della Vecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 N. Church St., West Chester, PA 19380, 610-6961181, www.DellaFH.com; followed by her Funeral Service at 10am.

Interment will be in Philadelph­ia Memorial Park, Frazer.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributi­ons may be made to the West Chester Public Library, 415 N. Church St., West Chester, PA 19380 and/or the First Presbyteri­an Church of West Chester, 130 W. Miner St., West Chester, PA 19380.
