Biden endorses Chrissy Houlahan for Congress
Former Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday endorsed Air Force veteran, businesswoman, educator and Democratic candidate Chrissy Houlahan for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 6th District.
“Chrissy Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, business leader, and former teacher, and she is precisely the type of public servant we need serving in Congress,” said Biden. “She knows what it means to serve our nation and ensure we are taking care of our veterans. She knows what it takes to create good-paying jobs with dignity and ensure employees have access to health care benefits and paid family leave. She knows what it takes to educate our children and develop programs to help with early childhood literacy. We need leaders like her in Congress who will put the middle class first and that is why I am proud to endorse Chrissy Houlahan for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District.”
“I am honored to receive the support of former Vice President Joe Biden, a true public servant who has always fought for middle class and working families,” said Houlahan. “Our government is broken and we need more leaders who are willing to put their constituents ahead of political interests. I never thought I would run for public office, but the stakes could not be higher this year. Unlike many of our current representatives, I have spent my career in service and if elected, will bring my experience to Congress to create good jobs, expand access and affordability to health care, improve and strengthen education, fight for veterans and hold this administration accountable.”
Houlahan was one of the DCCC’s initial Red to Blue candidates and has received numerous endorsements, including U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, U.S. Reps. Brendan F. Boyle, Matthew Cartwright, Dwight Evans, EMILY’s List, VoteVets, End Citizens United, NARAL, NewDemPAC, Plumbers Local 690, Plumbers Local 520, American Postal Workers Union Local 7048, Sheet Metal Workers Local 19, Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals, and the Chester County Democratic Committee.
Also running for the 6th District seat are Democrats Elizabeth Moro and Bob Detorre, and Republican Paul Masters. The 6th District is currently represented by Republican U.S. Rep. Ryan Costello, who has not definitively said if he will seek reelection.
The deadline for candidates to file nominating petitions in Pennsylvania’s elections is this Tuesday, March 20.
