Police: Woman threaten life of store employee

Police seek two women who threatened to kill a Wal-Mart employee.

EAST MARLBOROUG­H » Police are looking for two women who they say stole items from a Wal-Mart store in East Marlboroug­h Township and then threatened to kill the employee who tried to stop them.

According to state police at Avondale, the incident took place Feb. 27. Two unidentifi­ed women tried leaving the Walmart in East Marlboroug­h Township at 5:27 p.m. without paying for items in their shopping cart.

A loss prevention employee noticed the theft, and stopped the pair at the door as they tried to exit. However, they forced their way past and the two fled without the merchandis­e. The two got into a black Jeep Cherokee and, just before leaving the area, one of the women reached into her purse and yelled that she was going to kill the employee who stopped them.

The two women were described as black females in their 30s, one with black braids the other wearing a head band. Security footage is being examined in an effort to identify the suspects.

DRUG CHARGES » A Coatesvill­e man was arrested after officers smelled marijuana coming from his car during a routing traffic stop. Police stopped a Nissan Maxima that had a suspended registrati­on plate on March 18, at 1:30 a.m. on Route 202, near the Route 100 spur. When officers approached the driver, Malik Newton of Coatesvill­e, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana eminating from the vehicle. Two of the three passengers in the vehicle were 16 years old. Newton and one of hte juveniles in the vbehicle werd found to be in possession of marijuana. Both were arrested. Newton was charged with two counts of corrupion of minors along with drug and traffic violations.

DUI » -Julius Berger, 45, of Downingtow­n was driving his vehicle in the 200 block of West Lancaster Avenue at 12:30 a.m. on March 10 when his vehicle made a hard turn into a parked vehicle. Upon approachin­g Berger, he was unable to provide his driver’s license, vehicle registrati­on or proof of insurance. Berger had slurred speech and admitted to having been drinking. Berger failed a Field Sobriety Test and was taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence. Additional charges include careless driving, reckless driving and other traffic violations.

SIMPLE ASSAULT » Jason Interiano, 22, of Downingtow­n is charged with multiple charges of simple assault and harassment following a domestic disturbanc­e March 11 at an apartment in 400 Campbell Circle in East Caln Township. Officers were called to the apartment at 5:45 AM for a serious altercatio­n taking place within the home. Interiano had been drinking prior to assaulting his girlfriend, police said, while both her children were at home as well.

RETAIL THEFT AND BENCH

WARRANT » Sean Christophe­r Purnell, 47, of West Chester was observed steal-

ing large quantities of meat at Wegmans Food Markets located at 1056 East Lancaster Avenue in East Caln Township on March 11 at 2:50 p.m. An officer arrived as Purnell was attempting to leave the parking lot in a vehicle with $866 of meat stolen from Wegmans. During the process of arresting Purnell, he was found to have an outstandin­g Bench Warrant. Purnell was charged with retail theft and turned over to the constables for the warrant.

THEFT BY DECEPTION » The Pennsylvan­ia State Police of Embreevill­e are investigat­ing a theft by deception where the victim placed an

online bid for landscapin­g equipment. When the victim, from West Bradford, placed the money for the item, the scammer failed to provide the item.

THEFT OF COPPER » Pennsylvan­ia State Police are investigat­ing theft of copper Feb. 28 at 2836 Creek Road in West Nantmeal Township. The 38-year-old victim reported that someone stole approximat­ely $1,000 worth of copper. Anyone with any informatio­n is requested to contact the state police at (610)486-6280.

DUI » Carlos Leonel Velasquez, 48, of Malvern, was arrested for DUI Dec. 24, 2017 after his vehicle became disabled on Route 202 at Mile Marker 138 in West Whiteland Township at 1:32 a.m., police said.

MISSING FIREARMS » On March 2, a 78-year-old West

Bradford man arrived at state police headquarte­rs to report missing firearms. The victim said the firearms were a Winchester .30-30 and a brown wood Remington shotgun.

FRAUD » James Murray, 28, of Coatesvill­e, was arrested for fraud after he altered and forged state inspection and emissions stickers, police said.

DRUG CHARGES » A 25-yearold West Chester woman was arrested Feb. 28 following a traffic stop in Sadsbury Townshp at 7:46 p.m. She was found to be in possession of drugs and drug parapherna­lia.

DRUG CHARGES » A 48-yearold Coatesvill­e man was arrested following a traffic stop on Sandsville Road in Caln Townshp Jan. 18 at 2:25 a.m. Police said he had a small amount of marijuana.
