Trial set in roadrage killing

Trainer man held in fatal shooting or Rustin High grad

-

WEST CHESTER » The Delaware County man police say fatally shot a recent West Chester Rustin high school grad in a road-rage incident last summer will go on trial in May, a Chester County judge ruled Thursday.

David Desper, of Trainer, was in court for a hearing on the charges that he fired the fatal shot that took the life of 18-year-old Bianca Roberson as they jockeyed for position on Route 100 where it narrows for the merge onto Route 202.

The incident set off a nationwide manhunt for the suspect driving the red pickup truck that was seen fleeing the scene and eventually captured on surveillance video as it made its way down Route 352 into Delaware County.

Roberson had just graduated from high school and was on a shopping trip with relatives to buy clothes as she prepared to head off to college in Florida when the deadly encounter took place.

After testimony from a friend and several West Goshen Township police officers, Chester County Judge Ann Marie Wheatcraft ordered Desper held for trial, which is slated to begin May 21.

The Delaware County man has been held at the Chester County Prison since turning himself in several days after the roadrage incident.

Supporters of Desper, as well as friends and family of the victim were in the courtroom for the hearing. Bother Robersons parents, Michelle and Rodney Roberson, were in the courtroom for the hearing.
