Steeplechase dining opens at White Horse Village Retirement Community
White Horse Village, a not-for-profit, continuing care retirement community in Newtown Square, Pa., completed its most recent $3 million renovation project and opened the new Steeplechase Dining.
After nine months of construction, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in February to celebrate the new dining venues, which include: The Meadows, an upscale casual dining room; Dressage, formal dining; and the White Horse Tavern, a pub and lounge. The Club Room also opened for meetings, cards, games and social gatherings. The new dining venues boast high ceilings, an enclosed glass porch, a stone fireplace, a fabulous salad and buffet bar, demonstration cooking stations for chefs, dessert display cases for confections made by the pastry chefs and stunning furnishings. The White Horse Tavern is a full-service bar with a pub-style food menu. Liquor lockers are available for residents who want to store their own bottles. Large-screen TVs make this the perfect spot for viewing sporting events.
The response to the finished project has been one of approval and enthusiasm! Doing a project of this magnitude in the midst of a thriving and active retirement community with as little disruption as was experienced was an exceptional feat. It was accomplished with the cooperation of White Horse Village administration; Quinn DeMenna, architect and design team from City Invincible; Paul Risk Construction personnel; and Matt Eskridge from Heery International, who served as the owner’s representative. There was also an involved resident advisory committee throughout the project.
White Horse Village celebrates its 29th anniversary of providing housing and services to people 62 years of age and older this August. It is located on a 96acre arboretum-like campus in Edgmont Township surrounded by Ridley Creek State Park. In addition to the 335 residential apartments, homes and cottages, there is an on-site Healthcare Center where long-term nursing care is provided in: The Four Seasons, a specialized Alzheimer’s/dementia wing; Bridlewood personal care apartments; and Canterbury skilled nursing care.
