D-East boys edge Unionville
The Downingtown East boys’ lacrosse team edged Unionville, 7-6, Tuesday, led by four goals from Brian Miller. The Cougars also got fine performances from Bryce Lauletta (two goals), Colin Armbrust (one goal), Jack Mulcahy (two assists), James Barretta (one assist), goalie Nico Iacovino (11 saves) and Cooper Dicicco (won 11 of 17 faceoffs).

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 10, WEST CHESTER EAST 7 » The Vikings were led by Jacob Greiner (two goals, two assists), Joe Carozza (two goals, one assist), Seth Cohen (two goals) and Jeff Greiner (one goal, one assist). Goalies Brian Andiario and Jack Macanally combined for 11 saves.
Girls’ Lacrosse
VILLA MARIA ACADEMY 15, GWYNEDD MERCY 4 » The Hurricanes rolled to a win in their season opener, getting five goals from Hannah Young, three goals from Erin Finley and two goals from Bridget Finley. Abby Walheim dished out three assists.

CONESTOGA 8, RIDLEY 0 » Conestoga was led by a dominant pitching performance from Jacob Marcus, who pitched six scoreless innings, striking out nine batters while walking none. Mike DellaPolla came in for one inning of relief. Offensively, Conestoga was led by Luke Borger, who had a triple, two RBI, and three runs scored. Owen Margolis, Luke Czepiel, and Ryan Buck each contributed two RBI on the day. Strong defense was played by second baseman Owen Margolis.
Softball
UNIONVILLE 10, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 7» The Indians were led by Anna Deshaies, who went 4-for-4 with a home run. Unionville tallied 17 hits throughout the game. Freshman pitcher Sydney Horan relieved in the third inning and allowed only two runs the rest of the way. CONESTOGA 9, RIDLEY 5 » The Pioneers’ attack was led by Faith Walker (1-for4, two RBI); Olivia Cepielik (2-for-5, two RBI); Katie Mayock (2-for-4, two RBI); and Lauren Lofland (2-for3, RBI). Lofland, who was the winning pitcher, had a key two-out hit in the top of the seventh to put Conestoga ahead.

BISHOP SHANAHAN 6, CARDINAL O’HARA 1 » The Eagles got 6-2, 6-4 wins from both Justin Amrein (first singles) and Ben Schmidt (second singles) and swept the doubles matches. All of the doubles matches were won in striaght sets. DEVON PREP 7, NEW HOPE 0 » The Tide improved to 2-0 with the victory, as both Frank Byrd and Connor Kelly won straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
