One dead in early-morning shooting

Jamar Parker, 36, of Coatesvill­e killed in incident at South Fourth and Maple avenues in city

COATESVILL­E » Coatesvill­e police are looking for clues in an earlymorni­ng, Easter Day shooting that left a city man dead.

The homicide victim was Jamar Parker, 36, of Coatesvill­e, police said.

Police were dispatched to South Fourth Avenue and Maple Avenue at 1:02 a.m. for a report of a shooting with a person down. When they arrived, a victim was on the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds. First aid was immediatel­y administer­ed by police officers until the arrival of ambulance.

The victim was taken to Brandywine Hospital, but pronounced dead by the Brandywine Hospital Emergency Department physician at 1:30 a.m.

No other informatio­n was available by police, and the investigat­ion will continue this week.

Assisting at the scene were the following agencies: Chester County Detectives, West Caln, West Brandywine, Caln, East Fallowfiel­d police department­s, and Coatesvill­e Fire and Ambulance.

It was the second Easter Day shooting in the area.

A woman was shot to death in Pottstown in the early-morning hours of Easter Sunday.

Pottstown Police responded to a report of a shooting around 2 a.m. in the 300 block of Johnson Street between Third Street and Fourth Street.

According to witnesses at the scene, a woman believed to be in her 20s was shot multiple times

and died on the sidewalk next to a fence on Johnson Street.

Coatesvill­e police are seeking the public’s help with unsolved homicides, and the police department is offering a reward for promising tips.

The Coatesvill­e Police Department is providing a $4,000 reward to anyone who provides informatio­n about an unsolved homicide that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person(s) involved. The police department said the following murders are still unsolved:

Stephen Raison was killed in January 1999 in the area of North Fourth Ave at East Chestnut Street. Carnell Pittman was killed on August 7, 2003 at 5:30 a.m. in the 600 block of East Chestnut Street. Shontae Petterson and Carnell

Parker were killed on July 6, 2008 at 9:11 a.m. inside at 204 Charles Street. Trey A. Toaltoan was killed on March 29, 2010 at 10:57 p.m. at 577 East Lincoln Highway. Lee Caster Lewis was killed on Feb. 14, 2011 at 3:54 a.m. inside at 30 Strode Avenue. Jose Juarez Pinto was killed on Feb. 17, 2012 at 9:42 p.m. in the 400 block of Oak Street. Alex E. Davis was killed on July 2, 2012 at 11:39 p.m. in the 600 block of Belmont Street. Devaughn Shelton was killed on Dec. 13, 2012 at 3:51 p.m. inside at 571 Olive Street. Christophe­r Robinson was killed on March 5, 2016 at 10:17 p.m. in the unit block of Penrose Lane. David Fitzsimmon­s and William Chance were killed on Sept. 28, 2016 at 3:22 a.m. inside at 577 East Lincoln Highway. Damon E. Wylie was killed on Sept. 29, 2016 at 5:08 a.m. in the unit block of Modena Alley.
