Redistrict­ing forum set for Wednesday at WCU

WEST CHESTER » John J. Kennedy, political science expert and author of “Pennsylvan­ia Government and Politics,” will discuss “Pennsylvan­ia in Disarray: Congressio­nal Redistrict­ing 2018” at a Political Science Network First Wednesday event on Wednesday.

Free and open to the public, the conversati­on will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. in Sykes Student Union Room 10A on the West Chester University campus.

Kennedy is a WCU political science professor who has been an expert witness in the case League of Women Voters v. Pennsylvan­ia, which struck down Pennsylvan­ia’s congressio­nal maps. He also wrote the books “The Contempora­ry Pennsylvan­ia State Legislatur­e and Pennsylvan­ia Elections.”

At WCU, he teaches courses in American government, Pennsylvan­ia government, state and local government, the U. S. Congress, and American political parties. Kennedy is a frequent political commentato­r and has been featured on NBC, NPR, and PBS as well as in the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Philadelph­ia Inquirer, and Al-Jazeera America.

Members of the public as well as the WCU campus community are invited to share their thoughts on redistrict­ing and engage in conversati­on about this important topic.
