Motice nets 100th as Whippets top Kennett

The Downingtow­n West girls’ lacrosse squad topped visiting Kennett, 13-6, in a Ches-Mont showdown on Tuesday. Six different Whippets scored goals, including Peyton Motice, who scored three times and added two assists. Motice also notched the 100th high school tally of her career on Tuesday. West improves to 2-0 this season. WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 17, OXFORD 2 » Lilly Siskind and Jordyn Bauer each tallied three goals and an assist to lead the Warriors past the Hornets. Katie Bixby, Amy Hewson, Maddie Reuther and Olivia Pritchard added two goals apiece for Henderson. Sydney Campbell and Reese Canaday scored for Oxford. COLLEGIUM CHARTER 14, CHELTENHAM 11 » Gillian Shlenner amassed eight goals to lead the offensive attack, and Tatiana Washington added four goals for Collegium. Sydney McKenzie chipped in with two goals for the winners. CONESTOGA 13, SPRINGFIEL­D 11 » In a tight Central League battle, the Pioneers edged the Cougars. Rachel Clark and Julie Littlewood led the way with three goals apiece and Sydney Sloan contribute­d two goals and two assists for Conestoga. Amelia Kienzle chipped in with two goals and Cam Evitts had a goal and five assists.

GREAT VALLEY 7, BISHOP SHANAHAN 3 » The Eagles outscored the Patriots 4-0 in the second half to win this ChesMont clash. Kaela Smith scored two goals to pace Shanahan and Monica Manley registered a goal and an assist. Tori Rubin had two goals to lead Great Valley. WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 14, WEST CHESTER EAST 2 » Tina St. Clair notched three goals and three assists to lead the Knights over the Vikings. Ashley Chisholm alos had three goals, while Katie Stunits and Maggie Ruble each added two goals for Rustin. Sarah Godshall scored for East. UNIONVILLE 19, AVON GROVE 2 » The Indians raced out to a 13-2 halftime lead en route to a dominant win over the Red Devils. Mina Scott and Veronica Hineman each scored three times. Erin Garney, Hannah Close, Annie McDonough and Emma Malone added two goals apiece for Unionville (2-0, 2-1). DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 22, SUN VALLEYU 3» Thirteen different players scored for the Cougars. Olivia Fanelli had a game-high five goals, followed by Livi Lawton (3), Kira Flynn (2), Emily Wurtzel (2), Caroline Brennan (2) and Sydney Leen (2). East improves to 1-1 in the Ches-Mont, 1-2 overall.

DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 16, SUN VALLEY 1 » A dozen different players scored at least one goal as the Cougars blasted the Vanguards. East led 8-1 after the first quarter and never looked back. Jack Riley led the way with three goals and teammates Jack Mulcahy and Bryce Lauletta chipped in with two goals each. Mulcahy also had four assists and Grady Meredith added three for the Cougars. WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 14, OXFORD 1» Archer Rymiszewsk­i had three goals and two assists as the Warriors toppled the Hornets. Henderson led 10-0 at the half and wound up getting three goals from Jeff Benson, and two each from Jack Saulino, Pat Keegan and John Hamm. WESTTOWN 14, FATHER JUDGE 7 » The Quakers got off to a fast start, led 7-2 at the half and cruosed to a nonleague win. Blake Larsen nearly outscored Judge by himself with six goals. Jaxon Hendrickso­n chipped in with three goals and three assists and Elija Vega had two goals and two assists. WEST CHESTER EAST 9, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 5 » The host Vikings trailed early but scored five times in the second quarter and that wound up being the difference against the Golden Knights. Michazel Burke score twice to lead Rustin. BISHOP SHANAHAN 16, GREAT VALLEY 4» The Eagles took a 5-1 first quarter lead and never looked back. Bryan Rafferty and Connor Heisman combined to score five goals and dish out five assists for Shanahan. Pete Oberly led the Patriots with two goals and an assist.

DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 1, BISHOP SHANAHAN 0 » The Cougars scrapped a run across in the first inning and it wound up being the winnign run in this Ches-Mont pitcher’s dual. Matt Szepanski and Albert Choi had East’s only two hits. Dan DiBeneditt­o had the only two hits off Cougars’ pitcher Hutch Gagnon, who registered the two-hit, complete game shutout. WESTTOWN 7, FRIENDS CENTRAL 0 (5 INNINGS) » Pitcher Jon Moldoff scattered five hits and fanned six to get the win. At the plate, Moldoff helped his own cause by going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two runs batted in.

Softball

BISHOP SHANAHAN 2, SUN VALLEY 0 (5 INNINGS) » Devon Miller was the star for the Eagles. She hurled a nohitter on the mound and also delivered a double that drove in both runs at the plate. Miller fanned 10 batters in a contest that was shortened due to rain.
