Michael Joseph Rodgers passed away on Saturday April 7, 2018 after a brief struggle with cancer at the age of 88. Mike is lovingly remembered by his wife, Frances, of almost 63 years, his nine children; Mary McGinley (Joe), Sallie (Jim), Christine Frassenei (Joe), Michael (Rachel), Jeffrey (Kate), Elisa (Brian), Connie Dietrich (Bob), Frances Nadel (Doug), and Edward (Kelsey). He is also survived by nineteen grandchild­ren and two great grandchild­ren. Additional­ly, he is survived by his sisters; Lucia, Antoinette, and Mary. He was pre-deceased by his father and mother (Joseph and Elisa) and sister, Josephine.

Mike was born in south Philadelph­ia on September 1st, 1929. He graduated from Penn State University in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineerin­g. He then embarked on a long career in steam and nuclear engineerin­g and was instrument­al in the constructi­on of many power facilities on the east coast. He was president of U.S. and Tool and Die in Pittsburgh, PA which he sold in 1990. He was elected to the Board of Supervisor­s of Charlestow­n Township in 1995 to a sixyear term and subsequent­ly elected to three more sixyear terms and was serving when he died. He was most proud that while he served on the board that he and the board were able to put more than 30% of Charlestow­n Township into a conservati­on land trust green belting the township he so loved. He also was serving as President of the Board of Directors of Valley Forge Sewer Authority when he died.

He was known for his deep love of his wife and family, his love for Penn State football and Joe Paterno, travel and his home in Charlestow­n Township.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 12th, 7-8:30 PM at Logan Funeral Home, 698 E. Lincoln Hwy., Exton, PA 19341 and a Mass in celebratio­n of his life will be held 10:30 AM Friday, April 13th at St. Philip and James Church, 107 N. Ship Rd., Exton, PA 19341. Interment Philadelph­ia Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Mike’s memory may be made to Open Space of Charlestow­n Township. Donations in Mike’s memory, which will be dedicated to conservati­on projects in Charlestow­n Twp., may be made to French and Pickering Creeks Conservati­on Trust, 511 Kimberton Road, Phoenixvil­le, PA 19460.
