James J. Kavanaugh, 92 of West Chester, PA died Sunday April 8, 2018 at Neighborho­od Hospice, West Chester, PA.

He was the loving and dedicated husband of the late Arlene Miller Kavanaugh.

Born in Porter Twp., PA he was the son of the late John Cavanaugh and Isabel Dodds Cavanaugh.

Jim graduated from Tremont High School.

He served in the South Pacific as a medic in the US Navy during World War II.

Jim was a member of the West Chester United Methodist Church of West Chester, PA and enjoyed volunteer work at the church as an Usher and working on the Circuit Rider and Bulletin.

He took pleasure in serving others; visiting sick and homebound friends and was a humble man of God. Recently he enjoyed attending the VA Day program in West Chester every Monday. He was a wonderful storytelle­r about the old days. He was loved by all he met.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Lucille Kavanaugh several cousins; Cathy Kavanaugh, Susan Hill, Terry McHugh and his close friends Michelle (Boutin) Komisor, Russ Boutin, Paul Boutin and Lynn (Boutin) Ramser.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son the late James J. Kavanaugh, Jr., granddaugh­ter Jolene Kavanagh, brother John Kavanaugh and cousins Merle Bretzius and Annie Hill.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Graveside Service on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 12 noon at St. Peter’s United Methodist Cemetery, Fearnot PA.

In lieu of flowers contributi­ons may be made to Neighborho­od Health Hospice who lovingly cared for him during his final days at 400 East Marshall Street, West Chester, PA 19380
