D’town West’s Bednarik scores 100th career goal, 200th point

Downingtow­n West’s Corinne Bednarik scored her 100th career goal (as well as 200th career point) in the Whippets’ 22-1 girls’ lacrosse win against ChesMont League foe Oxford Tuesday. The Whippets had nine different players score, and improved their record to 7-2.

BISHOP SHANAHAN 7, DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 0 » Bishop Shanahan pitcher Devon Miller blasted three home runs in three at-bats (for five RBIs) and hurled a fourhit shutout, walking none and strking out 11 batters. Other contributo­rs were Emily Sano (2-for-2, one RBI), Kat Rosfelder (2-for-3) and Meghan Whitaker (one RBI). UNIONVILLE 10, OXFORD 8 » Unionvile remained unbeaten in its division with the victory. The game was tied going into the fifth inning when Maddy Frich put down a bunt that allowed Jane Dreher to score. The offense was led by Analise Griffiths, who went 4-for5. Winning pitcher Sydney Horan went the distance on the mound for the Indians. For Oxford, Natalie Oliver was 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored, while Gianna Coyle and Alexis Pearson were 2-for-4, each scoring a run. COATESVILL­E 12, WEST CHESTER EAST 2 » The Raiders (80, 9-0) remained unbeaten by using a nine-run first inning highlighte­d by Kelsey McIntyre’s bases clearing double. Maggie Kane was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI’s in the five-inning win. McKenna Sherman went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s, while Kayla Bock, Payton Landis and Kelsey McIntyre added two hits each. McKenna Sherman earned the victory in the circle. Mackinzie Thompson had two hits and scored both runs for West Chester East.

Westttown (5-3, 4-0) got five doubles, including one each by Patrick Culcasi, Nick Hanchak and Sam Brenner. DOWNINGTOW­NEAST8,WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 1 » The Cougars got a fine pitching effort from Scott Jewett (six innings, three hits, one run, six strikeouts) and some timely hitting from Joe Cestare (two RBIs, triple) and Tommy Hammett (3-for-4, two RBIs).

DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 15, OXFORD 3 » The Whippets earned their fourth straight win, led by Shea Dougherty (five goals, one assist), Nick Higgins (three goals, two assists), Jameson Smyth (two goals, one assist), Nick Varano (two goals), Nick Sicilia (won 9 of 14 faceoffs, five ground balls), Joe Shafer (won 4 of 6 faceoffs, five ground balls) and Owen Karp (five saves). WEST CHESTER EAST 11, GREAT VALLEY 6 » The Vikings were led by Jeff Shreiner (three goals), Jacob Greiner (one goal, six assists), Joe Carozza (one goal, one assist), Seth Cohen (one goal, one assist), Bryant Maits (two goals) and Mike Nagel (two goals, one assists). Jack Macanally and Brian Andiario combined for eight saves. Peter Oberly scored three goals for Great Valley, and A.J. Bernardine won 15 for 20 faceoffs. BISHOP SHANAHAN 15, SUN VALLEY 2 » The Eagles jumped out to a 10-0 first quarter lead and a 14-0 halftime advantage. Shanahan standouts included Bryan Rafferty (three goals, three assists), Connor Heisman (one goal, five assists) and Kyle Gucwa (three goals, two assists).

WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 20, COATESVILL­E 3 » The Warriors led 16-1 at halftime, and Henderson standouts for the game included Lilly Siskind (six goals, three assists, nine ground balls, seven draw controls), Jordyn Bauer (five goals), Maddie Reuther (four assists), Emma Goodstein (eight ground balls, five draw controls) and Natalie Miller (three goals, six ground balls). DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 16, KENNETT 4 » The Cougars were led by four goals from Livi Lawton and a hat trick by Emily Wurzel. Leah Hunter and Jess Myers each tallied two goals for Downingtow­n ast, which had nine different goal scorers. CONESTOGA 16, STRATH HAVEN6» The Pioneers were led by Rcahel Clark (five goals), Amelia Kienzle (three goals, one assist) and Maddie Wood (two goals, one assist). Eight different Conestoga players scored at least one goal, as the Pioneers led 10-1 at halftime. BISHOP SHANAHAN 17, SUN VALLEY 4 » The Eagles led 12-1 at halftime, and were led by Gianna DeCesaris (three goals, two assists) and Monica Manley (two goals, nine draw controls). Eleven different players scored for Shanahan. Goalie Jess Gorr recorded five saves for Shanahan. COLLEGIUM CHARTER 22, KIMBERTON 6 » Gillian Schlenner scored her 300th career point as Collegium romped to a convincing win.

WEST CHESTER EAST DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 3 » The Vikings (6-3, 6-2) were tied with the Cougars 3-3 when the first double team of Rohit Krishnagop­al and Marko Neskovic decided the mtahc, winning 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-2. The Cougars won at first singles (Ahbinav Pillai) and second singles (Tristan McBride) ion straight sets. KENNETT 6, OCTORARA 1 » The Blue Demons swept singles in straight sets against host Octorara (2-10, 2-7), with Nick DeFelice (first singles), Noah Rasero (second) and Luke Nall (third singles) all victorious. GREAT VALLEY 4, UNIONVILE 3» The Patriots handed host Unionvile (10-1) its first defeat of trhe season, winning all three singles matches. For Great Valley, Sameer Gangoli won at first singles, Sam Kesti was victorious at second singles, and Nikhil Gangoli won at third singles. OXFORD 6, COATESVILL­E 1 » The Hornets won second singles (Donte DiFrancesc­o) and third singles (Noah Anderson) in straight sets, and captured all of the doubles matches. Coatesvill­e’s Chris Skiles won at first singles in straight sets.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 92, OXFORD 58 » For Rustin, Drew Gallen finished in first place in the 100, 200. 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay, while Charley Dever was first in the pole vault and long jump. For Oxford, Phil Hurtt finished first in the shot put and discus.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 102, OXFORD 47 » For Rustin, Jhaniyah Newton-Ridgway finished first in the 100, 200 and 4x100 relay, while Izzy Okcuoglu was first in the long jump, triple jump and pole vault and Zhayria Washington was first in shot put and discus. For Oxford, Rose Rowe finished first in the 100 hurdles and second in the 400 and 300 hurdles.
