WEST CHESTER » Nearly 500 works of art will be on display at the 2018 Chester County High School Art Festival and 6th Congressional District Art Show. The weeklong show will officially kick off on Saturday, April 21, at the Chester County Art Association located at 100 North Bradford Avenue in West Chester.

The 44th annual Chester County High School Art Festival will be open to the public on Saturday, April 21 and Tuesday, April 24, through Saturday, April 28, from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The non-juried show features artwork by students from throughout Chester County. In addition, this year’s entries were also simultaneously submitted for Congressman Ryan Costello’s Congressional Art Competition for students living in the 6th District of Pennsylvania. Each spring across the nation, members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor a high school art competition, with the grand prize winner having his/ her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. The second, third and fourth place artwork will hang in Congressman Costel-

“The event is an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their artistic talents in a professional gallery space while introducing Chester County residents to the great up-and-coming artists,” said Jay Stone, the Chester County Intermediate Unit art show coordinator for this year’s show. “County teachers encourage

students to display these exceptional works of art, and members of the community look forward to and enjoy seeing their efforts year after year.”

A free reception and awards ceremony will take place on Monday, April 23, from 5-8 p.m., during which the following awards will be presented: Chester County Art Association Awards, Chester County Art Association Scholarships, 10 free art exhibit entries into future Chester County Art Association group shows and
