Henderson’s Bauer scores 200th goal

West Chester Henderson’s Jordyn Bauer scored her 200th career goal in the Warriors’ 9-8 girls lacrosse win against West Chester Rustin Thursday. Bauer finished with four goals, four draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Lilly Siskind chipped in with three goals, three assists and five draw controls for the winners. Henderson goalie Taylor Turner recorded seven saves. For Rustin, Ashley Chisholm tallied four goals. The game was called due to weather with eight minutes left and could not be finished, but is offcial because 80 percent of the game had been completed.

Girls’ Lacrosse

DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 16, BISHOP SHANAHAN 10 » The Cougars got out to an 11-4 halftime lead, and got four goals each from Caroline Brennan, Livi Lawton and Emily Wurzel. Leah Hunter tallied a hat trick. For Shanahan, seven different players scored goals, and Gianna DeCesaris and Monica Manley teamed up for seven draw controls.

SPRINGFIEL­D (DELCO) 12, VILLA MARIA 10 » The Hurricanes (15-2 overall, 12-0 AACA) suffered only their second defeat of the season, despite prolific offense from Margie Carden (three goals, two assists), Bridget Finley (one goal, one assist), Sarah Delaney (one goal, three assists) and Abby Walheim (two goals). VMA goalie Maddie Medve had 12 saves.

Softball

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 11,

OXFORD 9 » The Golden Knights exploded for six runs in the fourth inning for the victory, and were led by Mallory Hardwick (3-for-4, three runs scored, RBI), Maddie Fife (2-for-3, three RBIs), Hope Geissler (2-for-4, double, two RBIs) and Nicole Inforzato (1-for3, two runs scored, RBI). Oxford’s attack was led by Gianna Coyle (3-for-5, one run scored), Julie Cappelli (2-for-4, double, RBI), Maddie Frank (double, two RBIs), Rachel Florio (2-for4, double, RBI).

AVON GROVE 4, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 3 » With the score tied 2-2, the host Red Devils scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Olivia Kunitsky hit a home run and Brooke Salisbury hit a double to score Megan Kristman. Winning pitcher Lexi Barnhart allowed only four hits and one run in five innings, strking out seven, and went 2-for-2 at the plate.

Baseball

OCTORARA 5, COLLEGIUM CHARTER 1 » Braves pitcher Matt Rudisill scattered seven hits for a completega­me victory, and went 3-for-3 at the plate (including a double), scoring two runs. Bobby Bright also went 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.

College Softball

WEST CHESTER 8, CHOWAN 0» The visiting Golden Rams (41-13) opened up their NCAA Tournament run in Lock Haven with an 8-0 win over Chowan (31-15) to put themselves just two wins away from advancing to the Super Regionals scheduled for next weekend. WCU pitcher Amanda Houck (28-5) went five innings scattering just two hits and no runs while striking out five in the victory. WCU scored its first run in the bottom of the second inning on a sacrifice fly by West Chester Henderson High School grad Heidi McColleste­r, which scored Downingtow­n East grad Sara Ercolani. In the third inning, the Golden Rams scored three more runs, with Bri Garber lining a double and Madison Kelly hitting a triple. Avon Grove High School grad Alyssa Herion scored the third run of the inning. Garber later walked and scored another run in the fourth, and had an RBI single in the fifth. Today, West Chester will face the winner of Friday’s Lock Haven-Shepherd game, and the winner of this contest will advance to the Championsh­ip game Saturday and will be just one win away from the Super Regionals while the loser will have to play again at 4 p.m. and will then need to go 3-0 in order to punch its ticket to the next round.

Adult Softball

BRANDYWINE VALLEY SENIOR SOFTBALL » T&T improved its record to 5-1 in the Gold Division with a 1714 win over Life-Smoke Vapors (5-2). T&T was led by Bruce Gilbert and Bill Isakson, each of whom had three hits. Ed Turner and Bruce Gilbert each had three RBI’s and Rich McLaughlin hit a home run and had two RBI’s. Ken Weiler was the winning pitcher.

CHES-DEL SENIOR SOFTBALL » Optimum Physical Therapy Legends defeated Sloan, 9-3. Charlie Harvey and Jack Freehoff led the Legends with three hits each. Freehoff had a triple and two doubles. Marty Breisblatt was the winning pitcher.
