William Anthony Civitello of Phoenixville

-

August 7, 1950 - May 16, 2018 William Anthony Civitello, a lifelong Phoenixville-area resident, died at home of natural causes on May 16, 2018. He was 67.

Son of the late Daniel T. Civitello, Sr. and Alice G. Civitello, Bill attended Phoenixville schools, graduating in 1969 from the Technical College High School. He then studied commercial art at the Hussian College School of Art in Philadelphia. His first job in that field was with Chilton Publishing Company, where, before the Internet age, he worked on the schematic drawings which were part of car-repair manuals.

Bill later worked as a Workshop Supervisor at Handi-Crafters, Inc. His last job was as a salesman at Nicholas Smith Trains in Broomall.

From his earliest years, Bill was enamored with model trains, and one of his chief joys was spending a Saturday with his “train buddies” visiting the home of another train buff to admire a model railroad layout.

A born imitator and impersonator, Bill enjoyed many years playing roles at the Forge Theater. He was most proud of his Screen Actors Guild membership, which he held since 1980. He appeared as an extra in Dead Man Down and Silver Linings Playbook.

Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of 32 years, Judith Ann (Pennypacker) Civitello. He is survived by a sister, Alicia, and a brother, Daniel T., Jr. and will be enormously missed by his loving feline companions, Pennsy and Oakie.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in the St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 2440 Conestoga Road, Chester Springs, PA 19425 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Tina L. Mackie.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church at the address above; or to Main Line Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 89, Chester Springs, PA 19425.
