Chamber hosts youth leaders graduation
EAST WHITELAND » The Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry hosted a special graduation ceremony Thursday for the Youth Leadership Program. The students were encouraged to try new ideas and not be discouraged.
As described on CCCBI. org, the Youth Leadership Program is a cornerstone of the Foundation’s work. This program focuses on creating business educational opportunities for sophomore, junior and senior Chester County High school students. Through a series of educational sessions, activities and group participation, students receive first-hand knowledge of local and national issues influencing the world around them.
The dinner celebration took place at the Sheraton Great Valley. The Youth Leadership graduates, who consist of high school upperclassmen received graduation certificates and received words of wisdom from keynote speaker, Steve Voudouris, CEO of Turn 5 Inc. Voudouris entrepreneurial spirit and stories of failures and successes connected and inspired the graduates. He emphasized tenacity and not being afraid of failure.
“Give things a try because that’s how you’re going to get ahead,” Voudouris said. “Very rarely do people sit in a room and come up with an absolutely brilliant idea, and that was their first idea, and have it turn into a massive business.”
The Youth Leadership Program is one of CCBI’s premier programs. It allows high school students to engage with industry leaders during full day sessions that are held monthly. This program helps students develop skills and awareness for professional careers in various industries.
The Youth Leadership Program is open to all students. For more information and applications, visit cccbi.org or contact Youth Leadership Director Julia Taylor and Julia@cccbi. org
