Community Volunteers in Medicine get $ 35K

The Chester County Commission­ers presented a check for $ 35,000to Community Volunteers in Medicine.

WESTCHESTE­R » The Chester County Commission­ers presented a check for $ 35,000 to representa­tives from Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) this week. The funds are part of the county’s annual appropriat­ions to organizati­ons and nonprofits, and will be used by CVIM to help fund the organizati­on’s dental care program.

The checkwas presented by County Commission­ers Michelle Kichline, Kathi Cozzone and Terence Farrell to CVIM President and CEO Maureen Tomoschuk, Dr. Peter Thompson, VP of Dental Affairs and Alberta Landis, VP of Dental Services for CVIM.

Chester County government, and especially the county’s Health Department, actively support the work of Community Volunteers inMedicine. Noted as the first community- based medical volunteer clinic of its kind in southeaste­rn Pennsylvan­ia, CVIMis celebratin­g its 20th year of providing primary medical and dental care and health education to people who live or work in Chester County who lack access to insurance. In fiscal year 2017, 435 licensed medical profession­als donated over 54,000 hours of time to CVIM, serving nearly 4,000 patients during 41,000- plus visits. Close to 3,300 adults and children received dental care last year including nearly 500 patients at the CVIM Mobile Dental Program satellite locations.
