LANCASTER COUNTY » A Downingtown man was arrested after he allegedly caused a three-vehicle crash in Lancaster County on Wednesday and then allegedly assaulted a trooper, according to state police.

Pennsylvania State Police said Mark Harvey, 29, of Downingtown, was charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, accidents involving death or personal injury, DUI, assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment and several traffic violations following the crash at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Salisbury Township in Lancaster County.

State police said Harvey reportedly rear-ended a vehicle on Lincoln Highway and the force of the collision caused that vehicle to travel into the opposite lane with oncoming traffic, and it was struck by another vehicle.

State police said they located Harvey’s broken-down vehicle, a black sedan, a short distance away and eye witnesses identified Harvey as the alleged driver.

Harvey was seen in Salisbury Community Park walking away from the scene and reportedly ran away when ordered to stop, state police said. Harvey reportedly stumbled, turned around and allegedly tackled a trooper, state police said.

Harvey is in Lancaster County Prison after failing to post a combined $80,000 bail, according to his online court records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 19.
