Eight fugitives from justice arrested

The Chester County Sheriff’s office nabs eight fugitives from justice.

WEST CHESTER » During May 2018, the Chester County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehensi­on Unit took seven fugitives into custody without incident.

On May 4, 2018, deputies arrested Wilfredo Ortiz, 37, of West Chester, at an address in the 1300 block of Mary Jane Lane in West Goshen Township. Ortiz had an active warrant from the Chester County Domestic Relations Office.

Deputies arrested Thomas Purnell, 37, of Downingtow­n, on May 4, 2018, at an address in the 400 block of West Pennsylvan­ia Avenue in Downingtow­n Borough. Purnell had an active bench warrant for failing to appear for court in Adams County.

On May 16, 2018, Jason Moore, 31, was taken into custody at an address in the 200 block of New Street in the City of Coatesvill­e. Moore, a Coatesvill­e resident, had an active bench warrant for an alleged violation of probation/parole.

Deputies apprehende­d Irving Newton, 43, of Coatesvill­e, on May 23, 2018, in the unit block of Skyview Lane in Caln Township. Newton had several active warrants from the Chester County Domestic Relations Office.

On May 25, 2018, deputies arrested Charles O’Connor at an address in the 300 block of King Road in West Whiteland Township. O’Connor, 34, of West Chester, had an active bench warrant for an alleged violation of probation/parole. Because O’Connor was also found to be in possession of suspected drug parapherna­lia, the Sheriff’s Office referred the case to the West Whiteland Township Police Department for further investigat­ion.

Deputies arrested Wade Cochran at an address in the 200 block of Brick Road in East Nottingham Township on May 30, 2018. Cochran, 25, of Oxford, had an active bench warrant for an alleged violation of probation/parole.

On May 30, 2018, deputies took Bret Mains into custody at an address in the 300 block of Valley Road in West Grove Borough. Mains, a 33-year-old West Grove resident, had an active bench warrant for an alleged violation of probation/parole.
