Upon the officer’s contact with Shapanka, police said a strong odor of alcoholic beverage was detected. A field sobriety test was performed which Shapanka reportedly failed. Shapanka was taken into custody for allegedly driving under influence of alcohol.

Downingtown police said Trevor Padgett Bowes, 21, of Wayne, was cited with harassment by communication on June 5 following numerous attempts to reach the victim after having been warned against any further contact. Police said text messages and voice messages were retrieved showing the multiple attempts to reach the victim.

Curfew violation

Coatesville police conducted a routine patrol in the area of South Third Avenue and Harmony Street when they came into contact with two minors. Both girls, 13 and 14, were walking in the roadway at 2:11 a.m. on Friday. Police said one of the minors was released to a parent at the scene and the other was transported to the Coatesville Police Department where she was held until released by a guardian. Both minors were cited with violating the City of Coatesville curfew ordinance.

With summer break in full swing, Coatesville police reminded all parents and minors that the curfew ordinance takes effects and is enforced starting at 9 p.m. on Sundays through Thursday and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

False reports

Downingtown police said Jailynd Gray, 21, of Coatesville, rented a vehicle that was observed speeding in the area of East Pennsylvania Avenue and Dustin Drive at 10 a.m. on April 17. When officers contacted Gray multiple times following the incident she provided multiple versions in reference to who might have been driving the vehicle. Gray is charged with false reports to law enforcement authorities.
