Harry ‘Skip’ Best of Avondale

-

Harry “Skip” Best, age 70 of Avondale, PA, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, June 17, 2018. Born and raised in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Harry and the late Mary Best.

Skip was employed with Basciani Foods Inc as a long-haul truck driver, which had been his occupation for more than 30 years. Skip moved from Michigan to Pennsylvania in 1990 to be close to his daughter, Katelyn whom he shared with his ex-wife, Stephanie. Throughout all of his life, Skip remained close with the Scott family. He never missed the chance to celebrate a holiday or birthday with Katelyn.

Skip enjoyed riding his motorcycle and driving his Nova as well as spending time with his daughter and grandson as often as possible. He was a true local and ate breakfast at the West Grove Diner every morning with his many friends. Skip loved to sit on the porch of his residence and watch the traffic go by and was a frequent flyer at Earl’s Sub Shop. Those who know Skip would describe him as funny, sarcastic, stubborn and an overall great person who will be dearly missed.

Skip is survived by his beloved daughter, Katelyn Brady and her husband, Thomas of Kennett Square, PA; one grandson who he adored, Collin; as well as a sister, Mary Lou Yaklin of Tucson, AZ.

You are invited to visit with Skip’s friends and family on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 1:30-2:30pm at Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 W. State St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. A Memorial Service will follow, beginning at 2:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a college fund for Skip’s grandson, Collin at https://www.gofundme.com/collin-brady039s-college-fund.
