Aqua Pa. investing $4.6 million in infrastructure projects
WEST GOSHEN » Aqua Pennsylvania Monday announced $4.6 million in infrastructure improvement projects are currently underway in Chester County. The projects will improve service reliability, reduce the potential for discolored water and improve firefighting capabilities.
In Tredyffrin Township, crews wrapping up work on a $1 million project to replace an old 6-inch cast iron water main with 5,180 feet of 8-inch and 655 feet of 6-inch ductile iron pipe. The proj-
ect is expected to be complete this month and old mains were replaced on the following streets:
• Irish Road between Conestoga and Green roads;
• Martins Lane near Conestoga Road;
• Lizbeth Lane between Irish Road and Oak Lane;
• Oak Lane between Lizbeth Lane and the end of the cul-de-sac;
• Laurel Lane between Lizbeth and Robbins lanes.
In Tredyffrin and Easttown townships, crews are working on a $992,000 project to install 5,600 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe. This project, which is expected to be completed in August, replaces an old cast iron main on the following streets:
• Hickory Lane between Cassatt and Mount View roads;
• Mount View Road between Hickory Lane and Bair Road.
Crews are beginning work on a $666,000 project on Walker Road between West Valley and Glenhardie roads in Tredyffrin Township to replace 3,275 feet of old 6-inch cast iron water main with 8-inch ductile iron pipe. The project is expected to be completed in September.
Crews recently began work on a $546,000 project in Tredyffrin Township to replace an existing 6-inch cast iron water main with 2,420 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe. The project, which is expected to be completed in August, is taking place on the following streets:
• Rosedale Avenue between Upper Gulph Road and the end of the cul-desac;
• Wentworth Road between Upper Gulph and Homestead roads;
• Sunset Road between Upper Gulph and Homestead roads.
In Easttown Township, crews recently began work on a $783,000 project to replace existing 8-inch and 6-inch cast iron water main with 4,490 feet of 8-inch and 470 feet of 6-inch ductile iron pipe. The project, which is expected to be completed in September, is taking place on the following streets:
• Country Road between Berwyn Paoli and Abbey roads;
• Abbey Road between Sugartown and Country roads.
In West Goshen Township, crews are close to completing a $467,000 project to install 2,200 feet of 8-inch and 435 feet of 6-inch ductile iron pipe to replace the aging water main. The project is expected to be completed this month and is taking place on the following streets:
• East Rhodes Avenue between South High Street and East Rhodes Avenue;
• East Rhodes Avenue between South High Street and the end of the cul-desac;
• Pritchard Lane between East Rhodes Avenue and the end of the culde-sac.
Also in West Goshen Township, crews are working on a $190,000 project to replace an existing water main with the installation of 1,025 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe. The work, which is expected to be completed in August, is taking place on Sheridan Drive near Spruce Avenue.
These projects are part of more than $35 million in total infrastructure improvement projects planned in 2018 in Chester County, and more than $227 million planned across Pennsylvania this year. Aqua Pennsylvania invested $225 million in similar projects in 2017.
