The Jays scored two runs with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pin a 3-2 loss on Englund’s Apparel in West Chester Adult Baseball League action Wednesday night at Farley Field at Hoopes Park.

Joey Poma’s infield hit scored Rich Lennon who had reached on a threebase throwing error with the winning run. Jon Hennessey, who led off the Jays’ seventh with a single, scored on Lennon’s adventure to knot the game.

The come-from-behind victory spoiled a tremendous pitching performance by Englund’s starter Brad Canan, who had a no-hitter through 5 and onethird innings. Only two Jays batters had reached — both on hit batsmen — before Mark Wagner singled to left with one out in the sixth to break up Canan’s bid for the no-no.

Ben Lesher’s two-out double drove in the Jays’ first run in the sixth.

While Canan’s bid for the record book provided some high drama, Jays’ starter and winner Wes Erdman was quietly crafting his own masterpiece. Erdman yielded only two hits, both in Englund’s two-run third, and struck out five and walked four in his routegoing performance. After giving up the two runs, Erdman retired 12 consecutive before Jason Stackhouse reached on a one-out error in the seventh inning.
