Turn5 hosts successful Mustang show
10th annual event raises $117,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation
TREDYFFRIN » More than 8,000 Mustang enthusiasts recently gathered for Turn5’s annual AmericanMuscle Mustang Show at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Berks County. The 10th annual event raised more than $117,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
More than 2,500 Mustangs from every year since 1964 were on display at the one-day event held June 16 — cars that came in from all over the country.
“This was a big year for Turn5 and AmericanMuscle as we celebrate 10 years in what started out as a customer appreciation event and has quickly grown into the largest gathering of Mustang enthusiasts from all around the country,” Steve Voudouris, co-founder and CEO of Turn5 said in a press release.
The first AmericanMuscle Mustang Show was held in 2009 in the parking lot of Turn5’s headquarters — with about 100 Mustangs.
Over the years, the AmericanMuscle Mustang Show has raised funds for various charities, according to the company. Since 2015, however, proceeds from the show have benefited
Philadelphia’s Make-AWish Foundation. To date, Turn5 has raised more than $364,000 for the Make-AWish Foundation.
Turn5 hosted about 20 Make-A-Wish families at the event, and provided a VIP suite at the track where the families could enjoy food, snacks and watch several racing events, the company said.
In addition, all MakeA-Wish families in attendance had the opportunity to meet Fletcher Cox from the Philadelphia Eagles to get autographs and pictures — an event that was exclusive to the families and not open to the general public.
Cox also participated in the Make-A-Wish opening ceremony parade, which gave the kids an opportunity to drive down the track in a Mustang.
On hand for the Mustang show was Earl Offenback, an 18-year-old Make-A-Wish recipient. In May, Turn5 presented Offenback with a dramatically made over 2002 Jeep Wrangler.
The project took three months, more than 500 hours and $30,000 in parts to dramatically make over Offenback’s Jeep, which was presented to him May 12 during Turn5’s annual block party and employee car show. It was the sixth vehicle makeover donation for Turn5.
The one-day AmericanMuscle Mustang Show also featured the McLeod burnout competition, Flowmaster Revving Competition and RevX Dyno Challenge. Other highlights included exhibition races and a chance to watch two dueling jet cars blast down the track at 270 mph.
Attendees also had the chance to talk with representatives from some of the best-known names in the aftermarket community, including BBK, Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Roush and Ford Formance, which gave attendees a look at Ford’s pre-production 2019 Bullitt, according to the release.
