Fox News only wants to advance its agenda

- — Eric Strouse Perkiomenville

Fox News should not have the word “news” in its title. This show does not report news. Fox News is nothing more than a propaganda arm for its owner, Rupert Murdoch. There is no attempt at evenhanded reporting by Fox News. They are only interested in advancing their agenda. Their agenda being nothing more than the advancement of the wealthy, endorsement of everything Republican, and withering criticism of anyone who may dare to oppose that agenda.

One blatant example of the hypocrisy of Fox News concerns North Korea. President Obama mentioned that he may someday negotiate with North Korea. Fox News used every one of their so-called “experts” and broadcasters to broadly criticize the thought of negotiating with North Korea.

Donald Trump has now negotiated with North Korea. This same Fox News network, which unceasingly criticized President Obama for considering such an action, is now repeatedly praising Trump for negotiating with North Korea. They are even endorsing Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize because of his efforts. The difference for Fox News is that Trump is a Republican, and President Obama was not a Republican.

Global warming is another target of Fox News. They are not afraid to ignore the fact that 97 percent of all scientists associated with the environment, our climate, and the earth, unequivocally believe we are deeply in the throes of global warming. No, they will trot out one of the few scientists they can find to support their view, which is “there is no global warming.”

The average person does not benefit from this ongoing denial of global warming. It is the large companies that benefit from decreased environmental regulations, which may slow global warming, if they were allowed to be implemented. Fox News does not care about the average person. They are only advancing their agenda.

The ever-growing federal debt is an example of news which is totally ignored by Fox News. What is focused on by Fox News? They will constantly report about the tax cuts. The reality is that the average person will see a reduction in their taxes, but the real winner of the tax cuts are corporations and the very wealthy. Again, the Fox News agenda comes to the surface.

The tax cuts are resulting in a tremendous federal debt that will cause interest rates to rise for mortgages, car loans, and generally make getting any kind of loan more expensive for the average person. The cost of these increased interest rates, due to the federal debt (not reported on by Fox News), do not impact the wealthy. They do, however, make things much more expensive in the long run for the average person.

What about the everincreasing federal debt? How will it ever be paid for with decreasing revenues due to tax cuts for the wealthy? What about the impact of the deficit on future generations? Would these questions be asked by Fox News if a Republican was not in office? Would Fox News ask these questions if their agenda was not being advanced?

The answer, of course, is that Fox News would continually broadcast critical analysis concerning anything negative that happened, and blame it on those that are not Republican, or those who do not support their agenda. If a Republican was not in office during this time of increasing federal debt, it would be a never-ending topic on Fox News. The negotiations with North Korea would be heavily criticized. A Republican administration means that Fox News will never negatively report on these items.

Fox News repeats misinformation so often that their listeners believe it to be true. Fox News does not report news that does not support their agenda. Fox News is not the place to obtain news, if that is truly your goal. No, the true name of this news network should be the Fox Propaganda Network.
