MCCC offers info about grants

Workforce Development Division will host WEDnetPA session July 18

-

The Workforce Development Division at Montgomery County Community College will host an information session July 18 focused on training plans and grants available through WEDnetPA — the Workforce & Economic Development Network of Pennsylvania.

The session will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. in College Hall, Room 144 at MCCC’s Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell.

As part of the event, professionals from the college’s Workforce Development Division, which is based on the college’s West Campus in Pottstown, will offer information about the development of training plans, how to submit grant applications, grant thresholds and eligibility requirements.

According to its website, WEDnetPA was created to help Pennsylvania companies become more competitive locally, nationally and internationally by updating employee skills to meet specific company needs. It supports Pennsylvania companies by investing in the training needed to upgrade the skills, knowledge and effectiveness of a company’s current employees.

Funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, WEDnetPA is an alliance of educational providers across Pennsylvania — including state system universities, community colleges and other educational providers. The alliance, according to the website, acts as a delivery mechanism for workforce training grants. Each provider, known as a WEDnetPA partner, serves as the point of contact for businesses accessing these training funds.

Pennsylvania began accepting WEDnetPA applications on July 1, according to a press release.

MCCC is the approved WEDnetPA partner for eligible Montgomery County businesses. West Chester University in Chester County is also a WEDnetPA partner.

Any eligible Montgomery County business interested in developing a training plan for its workforce and receiving grant assistance, may attend the information session.
