Tractor Supply Co. coming to Uwchlan
Store expected to open later this summer
UWCHLAN TWP. » Construction is underway on a new Tractor Supply Co. retail location in Chester County. When completed, it will be the company’s 96th Pennsylvania store.
Construction on the 21,938 square foot store got underway July 9 at 435 E. Uwchlan Ave. The store is expected to open later this summer. The company said it plans to hire 12 to 15 employees with firsthand knowledge and expertise in caring for pets, livestock and land.
“We’re not just building a store, we’re building a team that understands the needs of the Lionville community,” District Manager Alex Strange said in a press release. “We know this community values living ‘Life Out Here’ just like us — with a focus on caring for their home, land, pets and animals. With the addition of our new location, we’re able to ensure the Lionville community is fully equipped with the products they need.”
The new location will serve as a ‘one-stop shop’ for the area’s farmers, livestock and pet owners, ranchers, part-time and hobby farmers, gardeners, homeowners, tradesmen and others, according to the company. The Tractor Supply team will also support pet adoption initiatives, area 4-H clubs and FFA chapters, county fairs and livestock shows.
Among the products available will be workwear and boots, tractor and trailer parts and accessories, lawn and garden supplies, sprinkler and irrigation parts, power tools, fencing, welding and pump supplies and riding mowers. In addition, the new store will carry a wide variety of food and supplies for pets, equine and livestock.
Plans include a sales floor, external support service area and pet wash station, where customers will have access to professional grade wash bays, grooming tables and tools.
According to an emailed company response to questions, Tractor Supply Co. “carefully chooses each new location through a robust, specific site selection process that takes into account factors such as demographic trends, competitive dynamics and existing Tractor Supply store locations.”
Area Tractor Supply Co. stores include locations in: Lower Pottsgrove, Parkesburg, Boyertown, New Holland and Harleysville.
The Uwchlan store is being built by DMB construction, a small firm based in Winchester, Mass., which
has built several Tractor Supply Co. locations, according to the company.
Tractor Supply Co. was founded in 1938 as a mail order tractor parts business. It has grown to more than 1750 stores in 49 states, supplying basic maintenance products to home, land, pet and animal owners.
Tractor Supply Co. also owns and operates Petsense, a pet specialty supply retailer focused primarily in small and mid-size communities. As of March 31, 2018, there were 127 Petsense stores in 27 states — none in Pennsylvania.
