Horace ‘Whitey’ Whiteman Jr., 91

Horace A. “Whitey” Whiteman, Jr., 91, of Coatesville passed away at home under Hospice Care on July 27, 2018.

He was the beloved husband of Betty Jane (Hall) Whiteman with whom he shared 71 years of marriage.

He served in the Navy attaining the rank of S1/c Striker Plank Owner. After the Navy, Mr. Whiteman joined Pepperidge Farms in Downingtown and was one of the “original 49’ers” where he was known as “Whitey” by his co-workers. He retired in 1990 after 41 years of service.

He was involved in many associations of the Navy; a lifetime member of the Brandywine Goddard Lodge #383 F & M; the American Legion Post 475, the VFW Post 845 as well as numerous other groups and associations.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Sandra L. (Whiteman) Kilsby of New York City; Linda L. (Whiteman) Clay; son, Keith A. Whiteman (Helen) both of Coatesville; daughter-in-law, Kelly Whiteman of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Brooke Comley (Dave); Kelly Laukhuff (Phillip); Chelsea Whiteman and fiancé, Dylan Charles; Chase Whiteman; and great granddaughter, Alivia Comley. He has many nieces and nephews surviving that call him “Uncle Junk”. He was preceded in death by his son, Guy A. Whiteman; son-inlaw, K. Scott Clay; grandson, Billy Howe, Jr.; and granddaughter, Michelle Frazier.

Funeral services and interment will be private.
