Road work scheduled on Route 422 west

Nighttime and daytime lane restrictio­ns are set next week on westbound Route 422 and Route 73.

Nighttime and daytime lane restrictio­ns are scheduled next week on westbound Route 422 and Route 73 (Skippack Pike) as part of a project to repair and resurface 50 miles of state highway in Montgomery County, PennDOT announced. The work schedule is: • Sunday, Aug. 5, and Monday, Aug. 6, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., lane restrictio­ns are scheduled on Route 73 (Skippack Pike) between Green Hill Road and Mara Drive in Worcester and Whitpain townships, for milling;

• Monday, Aug. 6, through Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., lane restrictio­ns are scheduled on westbound Route 422 between the Route 363 (Trooper Road) and Oaks (Egypt Road) interchang­es in Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships, for milling;

• Monday, Aug. 6, through Friday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., lane restrictio­ns are scheduled on Route 73 (Skippack Pike) between Green Hill Road and Mara Drive in Worcester and Whitpain townships, for utility adjustment­s and inlet repair;

• Wednesday, Aug. 8, and Thursday, Aug. 9, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., lane restrictio­ns are scheduled on westbound Route 422 between the Route 363 (Trooper Road) and Oaks (Egypt Road) interchang­es in Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships, for concrete patching operations;

• Thursday, Aug. 9, and Friday, Aug. 10, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., lane restrictio­ns are scheduled on Route 73 (Skippack Pike) between Green Hill Road and Mara Drive in Worcester and Whitpain townships, for paving; and

• Friday, Aug. 10, and Saturday, Aug. 11, from 8: p.m. to 9 a.m., lane restrictio­ns are scheduled on westbound Route 422 between the Route 363 (Trooper Road) and Oaks (Egypt Road) interchang­es in Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships, for concrete patching operations.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. The contractor’s schedule is dependent on the weather.

As part of this improvemen­t project, Route 422 in both directions from just east of the Route 29 (Collegevil­le Road) Interchang­e to west of the Route 363 (Trooper Road) Interchang­e in Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships, will be resurfaced.

State highway completed under this resurfacin­g project include:

• Route 113 (Bridge Road) between Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Route 29 (Gravel Pike) in Skippack and Perkiomen townships;

• Ridge Pike between Crosskeys Road and Route 29 (First Avenue) in Lower Providence Township and Collegevil­le Borough; and

• Route 29 (Gravel Pike) between Ridge Pike/Main Street and Route 73 (Skippack Pike) in Collegevil­le Borough and Perkiomen Township.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacin­g under this contract include:

• Greenwood Avenue between Main Street and Wartman Road in Upper Providence and Perkiomen townships;

• Route 73 (Church Road) between Bethlehem Pike and Panther Road in Whitemarsh, Springfiel­d and Cheltenham townships;

• Route 152 (Limekiln Pike) between Tennis Avenue and County Line Road in Horsham and Montgomery townships;

• Byberry Road from Philmont Avenue to just west of Reading Way in Lower Moreland Township;

• Red Lion Road between Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike) and Route 63 (Philmont Avenue) in Lower Moreland Township;

• Stenton Avenue from Paper Mill Road to the bridge over Paper Mill Run in Springfiel­d Township;

• Elm Street between Fayette Street and Colwell Lane in Conshohock­en Borough;

• Upper Gulph Road/ Old Gulph Road/Spring Mill Road between County Line Road and Route 320 (Montgomery Avenue) in Upper Merion and Lower Merion townships;

• Spring Mill Road between Old Gulph Road/ Spring Mill Road and Route 23 (Conshohock­en State Road) in Lower Merion Township;

• Wynnewood Road between U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) and U.S. 1 (City Avenue) in Lower Merion Township and Narberth Borough;

• Hollow Road between Route 23 (Conshohock­en State Road) and River Road in Lower Merion Township;

• Kenas Road between Route 463 (Horsham Road) and County Line Road in Montgomery Township;

• Blair Mill Road between Route 63 (Welsh Road) and County Line

Road in Horsham and Upper Moreland townships;

• Militia Hill Road between Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Butler Pike in Whitemarsh Township; and

• Main Street between Route 363 (Trooper Road) and Forrest Avenue in West Norriton and Lower Providence townships.

Under this improvemen­t project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways

and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Allan Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $13,260,444 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvan­ia’s Transporta­tion Plan.

Work on the project is expected to be completed in late 2018.
