WEST GOSHEN » 309 Express, a country-rock band based out of Glenside, will be featured at the West Goshen Summer Concert Aug. 19.
Formed by wife/husband team Mary Duffy and Bill Gioioso, the five-piece band has been entertaining audiences in the Delaware Valley since 2009. 309 Express has been described as “a rousing eclectic rockabilly country-rock band.” The band presents a crossroads of classic country, California country-rock, rockabilly, folk, and blues. Bakersfield country rock and roll in the 1950s where artists like Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakam, and Marty Stuart originated; California fusion of country and rock of the 1960s and ‘70s brought us Emmylou Harris, The Eagles, and Linda Ronstadt; the classic country songs of Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn, Ray Price, and Willie Nelson; to next generation Rosanne Cash, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and even The Beatles. Those are the musical traditions brought to life by 309 Express.
