David James McCool of West Chester

David James McCool, 69, of West Chester, PA and formerly of State College, PA passed away on August 8, 2018 after a 3 year battle with lung cancer.

Born in Altoona, PA in 1948, he was the son of the late Lester L. and Sara E. (Heinbaugh) McCool.

David was the beloved husband of Judith Ann, with whom he shared 47 wonderful years of marriage; loving father of Michelle “Shelley” Widner (Mike) of Broadway, VA and Deanna McCool of Phoenixvil­le, PA; devoted grandfathe­r of Morgan and Max Widner; dear brother of Cindi DePue (Kim) and the late Lester “Mac” McCool (Ann).

He later moved to State College, PA, where he met his wife, Judy in State College High School, from which they graduated. After graduating, he served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War 1966-1968.

He attended The Pennsylvan­ia State University, where he majored in Criminal Justice.

Dave was a hardworkin­g man who provided for his family. He retired in 2015 as Vice President of USA Coil & Air in Malvern, PA.

He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and teasing his grandchild­ren. He was an avid Flyers and Penn State Football fan.

His sense of humor, laugh, and caring nature will be greatly missed by so many, but especially by his wife and daughters. His grandchild­ren will remember him for being funny and loving…the best Pap-Pap ever!

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday, August 12, 2018 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000 and 9:3010:20 AM Monday at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 15 E. Pleasant Grove Rd, West Chester, PA followed by his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM. Interment Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester, PA.
