Joyce worked as an administrative assistance at PNB Bank, General Electric in Southwest Philadelphia, and RCA Space where she met her husband. After starting a family, she became a full time devoted mother. Over the years she did volunteer work for the church and many community organizations.

Her hobbies were dancing, playing the guitar and singing, baking, bike riding, playing tennis, photography, and scrap booking. She also loved to travel and spend times at the Jersey shore and in Florida with family.
