UWCHLAN » Firefighters quickly knocked down a fire in an Uwchlan home on Monday evening.
First responders were dispatched Monday at 5:32 p.m. to the 1100 block of St. Michaels Ct. for a house fire reported as a kitchen fire. Lionville Deputy Chief Mike Holmes said upon arrival there was no visible smoke or fire showing from the home. He added that a West Whiteland police officer had entered the home upon arrival and saw smoke coming from the kitchen and saw it was on fire.
The residents had safely evacuated their home. No injuries were reported to the residents or firefighters.
Holmes said the firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and there was no extension. The fire was placed under control by 5:52 p.m.
“It was good that we got a lot of trucks out quickly,” Holmes said. “It was a pretty quick knock.”
Holmes, who also serves as the township fire marshal, said the fire has been ruled accidental. The fire was contained to the kitchen with heat and smoke damage in the home. The estimated damage to the home is $40,000.
Lionville Fire Company was assisted by West Whiteland, East Whiteland and East Branywine Fire Companies, Downingtown Fire Department, Uwchlan Ambulance and police. Crews cleared the scene at 7:20 p.m.
