Walsh leads Downingtown East past West at Honeybrook
In a crosstown boys’ golf battle, Downingtown East slipped past Downingtown West 201207 on Tuesday at Honeybrook Golf Club. Matt Walsh topped the Cougars and led all scorers with a 37, and teammate Evan Drummond added a 38. Thayer Lesko led the way for the Whippets with a 40 while Adam Wenk and Thomas Harper each finished up at 41.
KENNETT 225, OXFORD 243 » In a Ches-Mont opener, the Blue Demons topped the Hornets at Wyncote Golf Club. Kennett’s Jack Mullen was the medalist with a 43, and teammate Jack Ryan added a 44. Rocco Fiannangeli topped Oxford with a 45.

COATESVILLE 239 » Playing in the first match of his high schoool career, freshman Aaron Skii grabbed co-meadlist honors with a 39 to help the Vikings top the Raiders in Ches-Mont action. Damon Spattacco also had a 39 for East. Ryan Jackson led Coatesville with a 44.
BISHOP SHANAHAN 211, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 214 » Joe O’Malley carded an 38 to lead the Eagles, who edged the Warriors in a Ches-Mont National contest. Jack Strame led Henderson with a 39.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 7, AVON GROVE 2 » In the ChesMont girls’ tennis opener for both, the Knights outlasted the Red Devils. Rustin swept all three singles matches, with Cassie Hung, Julie DiCampi and Ana Petrosky all winning in straight sets, and then split the doubles. The most competitive match was at No. 1 doubles, where Avon grove’s Caroline Beuscher and Rachel Peirson nipped Carson O’Leary and Katie Slachta 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). UNIONVILLE 7, GREAT VALLEY 0» The Indians (1-0 overall) swept all matches, and they all ended in straight sets. The closest came at No. 1 doubles, where Unionville’s Josie Liu and Meera Sehgal edged the Patriots’ Brynn Flannery and Riya Kinny, 6-2, 7-5. WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 7, OXFORD 0 » The Warriors opened their season with a sweep over the Hornets, winning 84 of a possible 88 games.
