Walsh leads Downingtown East past West at Honeybrook

In a crosstown boys’ golf battle, Downingtown East slipped past Downingtown West 201207 on Tuesday at Honeybrook Golf Club. Matt Walsh topped the Cougars and led all scorers with a 37, and teammate Evan Drummond added a 38. Thayer Lesko led the way for the Whippets with a 40 while Adam Wenk and Thomas Harper each finished up at 41.

KENNETT 225, OXFORD 243 » In a Ches-Mont opener, the Blue Demons topped the Hornets at Wyncote Golf Club. Kennett’s Jack Mullen was the medalist with a 43, and teammate Jack Ryan added a 44. Rocco Fiannangeli topped Oxford with a 45.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 7, AVON GROVE 2 » In the ChesMont girls’ tennis opener for both, the Knights outlasted the Red Devils. Rustin swept all three singles matches, with Cassie Hung, Julie DiCampi and Ana Petrosky all winning in straight sets, and then split the doubles. The most competitive match was at No. 1 doubles, where Avon grove’s Caroline Beuscher and Rachel Peirson nipped Carson O’Leary and Katie Slachta 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
