Wolf’s term was disaster

-

(Recently) you ran an article entitled, “Comitta finds pipeline concerns trump all others.”

In that article, state Rep. Carolyn Comitta is quoted as saying “Gov. (Tom) Wolf has increased education spending since he took office four years ago. This year’s budget continues that trend.”

This statement is not factual and perpetuates a big myth about Tom Wolf’s term as Governor: that he has single-handedly put more money into education.

In fact, Tom Wolf has vetoed more education dollars than he’s signed into law, all the while self-creating fiscal crises that held public schools hostage as he insisted on the largest tax increase in state history.

Additionally, Tom Wolf has been abysmal for Pennsylvanians for his lack of leadership on other matters.

While he vetoed significant pension reform legislation that would have provided protection for taxpayers in the event of a stock market correction, he also failed to sign budgets in his first three years in office.

Imagine that - a Governor who proposed the largest tax increases in Pennsylvania history, and when those tax increases were rejected by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, he refused to sign the next three budgets.

In truth, Republican leadership has put more money into schools while simultaneously holding the line on taxes.

If it were not for Republicans in the General Assembly, Pennsylvanians would have higher taxes with little or nothing to show for it.

Tom Wolf’s term as Governor has been a disaster for Pennsylvanians.

He does not deserve a second one.
