Unionville blanks Garnet under lights at Talen Energy Stadium

Michael Hewes scored twice as the Unionville boys soccer team posted a 5-0 win over Great Valley under the lights at Talen Energy Stadium Friday night.

Anthony Zuccherio, Tommy Kelly and Bryan Kurey also scored for Unionville in the nonleague win. Kelly also added an assist on one of Hewes’ goals, while Grady Farrell, Kyle Ketterer, Garrett Pinkston and David Johnson also tallied assists for Unionville. DEVON PREP 2, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 0 » Nick Bello had a goal and an assist and George Kweder also scored for the Tide (5-3 overall) in the win. Goalie Luke Grycewicz notched his second shutout in Philadelph­ia Catholic League play for the Tide (4-2, 5-3).

Girls Tennis

DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 4, UNIONVILLE 3 » Downingtow­n West swept the singles matches, and the team of Kaitlyn Grignano and Lili Zebluim snagged a doubles win to lift the Whippets to the hard-fought Ches-Mont League win.

Jordan Bradley and Holly Koons won their singles matches in straight sets, while Sophia Koons pulled out a three-set win over Eliza Wilks, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.

On the doubles courts, Unionville’s top doubles team got a three-set win from Bailey Santaguida and Faith Ilgner, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, over Lily Shi and Divya Kalmady. The Indians’ Kate Dobbins and Lovey Black, as well as Riley Moriarity and Mauria Blair also won their doubles matches. But at No. 2 doubles, Grignano and Zebluim beat Unionville’s Josie Liu and Meera Sehgal, 6-3, 6-4, to seal the win. DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 7, W.C. RUSTIN 0 » Tali Levine, Olivia Davis and Nicole Dickson swept the singles matches as the Cougars blanked Rustin in ChesMont League action. Doubles wins were posted by Hannah Vance and Siya Sehgalo, Kaitlyn Fisher and Ainsley Vogt and Sneha Suthakar and Maria Thomas.

Boys Golf

UNIONVILLE 194, GLEN MILLS 297 » Connor Bennink fired a 2-under score of 34 on the tough Golf Course at Glen Mills as the Indians (13-0) stayed undefeated with the nonleague win. Bennink was followed by David Starnes (37), Ross Charlton (39), Jack Boas (41) and Alex Moore (43).

Field Hockey

NOTRE DAME 3, CONESTOGA 1 » Charlotte de Vries scored for the Pioneers, but Lauren Curran’s hat trick was enough to lift nationally ranked Notre Dame to the nonleague win. Maddy Todd and Katie Clemson split time in the net for Conestoga (5-2 overall) and combined for four saves.

Girls Volleyball

CONESTOGA 3, DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 1 » Aly Reardon had 18 kills, 12 digs and three aces for Downingtow­n West in the losing effort, as Conestoga won, 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21. Hailey Lewis had 13 kills and two blocks for West (4-3), while Jenna Schuda had her first career double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs. WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 3, SPRINGFIEL­DDELCO 0 » Olivia Stasen had 12 assists and Ally Kern added 10 more as the Golden Knights cruised to the nonleague win, 25-5, 25-13, 25-21. Emma Klanica had eight kills and two blocks and Bella Ridgell added seven kills for Rustin (7-2). VILLA MARIA 3, UNIONVILLE 2 » The Indians dropped a heartbreak­er in five sets, as the Hurricanes pulled out a 22-25, 25-21 25-22, 18-25, 15-11 win. Lizzie Acchione had 13 kills and Kelsey Hoff had 41 assists and nine kills for Villa Maria. Alivia Orvieto also stood out with 16 digs.

For Unionville, Sophie Brenner had 20 kills and Kat Tuerff had 10 kills in the loss. OCTORARA 3, OXFORD 1 » Emily Griffin had eight kills, four aces and two blocks, while Sydney Pearson had four aces and 14 digs in the Hornets’ nonleague loss. Jordyn Daniels had three blocks and Danielle Stackhouse had 24 digs for Oxford.

Men’s Soccer

WEST CHESTER 4, PITT-JOHNSTOWN 0 » Doug Goitia netted a hat trick and Nick Jachwak scored the other goal as the Golden Rams rolled to the PSAC shutout. Goitia scored his first goal in the eighth minute, scored again in the 25th minute on an assist from Andrew Slater, and finished his scoring in the 51st thanks to an assist from Nico Meola. Jachwak scored the game’s second goal in the 20th minute to help WCU (2-0-1 PSAC, 4-1-2).

Women’s Soccer

WEST CHESTER 2, PITT-JOHNSTOWN 0 » Jenny Bail and Kendall Rich scored for the Golden Rams in the PSAC victory. Bail scored in the 30th minute off an assist from Priscilla Walsh, and Rich scored her fourth goal of the season in the 62nd minute for WCU (3-4, 3-5).
